Thinking of Spring

Happy Sunday afternoon friends. It has been another snowy weekend. Light snow for most of the last two days, but not a whole lot of accumilation. Nothing like last Monday.

Yesterday I finally die cut the flowers I had colored.

I first started with a stencil and two colors of distress inks. The images were colored with prisma pencils. I then die cut with the matching dies, and arranged them ontop of my distressing. The sentiment was stamped on a thin piece of white cardstock. I lined one end with the edge of the card and flagged the other end. Adding it to my card with foam adhesive. I used liquid pearls for the centre of the yellow card.

It's been so long since I've actually finished a card in time for the challenge.  I am entering this one in Freshly Made Sketches - 377

BRRR -30 Is Cold

Evening everyone. Hope this finds everyone warm. We are in a deep freeze. It started on the weekend. -20 was the high during the day. The wind made it even colder. This morning the school buses were cancelled because of the cold. It was -28 when I left for work.

So with all this cold I've been thinking about spring, and coloring flowers. With the start of a new year comes new things. I have a drawer full of new stamps, embossing folders, dies. I will be using it all, starting with this new stamp set and dies.

For this one I stamped the background with white ink on a black background. I then colored with a white prisma pencil. Trimmed a bit off the edges, and mounted it on a white cardbase. I added a small sentiment and mounted it with foam tape.

Pretty In Purple

Afternoon everyone. Home for a quick lunch. I actually feel that I am accomplishilng something at work today. The first time all week. Great way to wrap up the week.

Last night I was playing with a new stamp. Stamping it out to cover the background. Now I can color them.  One I did for to use the matching dies to cut out. I will share when finished.

Today I want to share the second card from last weekend. This one I colored the flowers purple. I think this one is my favorite. I love the purple with the dark grey background.

Waiting for Spring

Good evening blogland.  My coloring supplies are feeling a little neglected lately.  I feel like I'm expanding my collection but am afraid to use them.  I have a nice assortment of  colors in Tombow Markers, water color paints, and a beautiful set of Prisma color pens that I received for Christmas.  I sit and watch hours of videos of people coloring, wishing I could do that too. But afraid to jump in there.  So lately I've been trying different mediums. I'm getting the hang of blending pencil crayons. Water color was not bad. But the Tombow Markers I had the most fun with. Yesterday I colored a flower background. Now I'm not the quickest (it took me all day). But I really enjoyed it. I even managed to make it into a very simple card.

Ta da!

Nice bright colored flowers, makes me think of spring. Once again our weather has turned mild. Above 0 during the day. Rain is taking the snow away again. Which does not bother me.

Going through my emails tonight I noticed the new Simon Says Challenge is make a background. What luck.

until next time

Hello Gramma

Good morning. Well our deep freeze has finally ended. It us a lovely -5°C. Far cry from the -30 on Saturday. But once again like yesterday it is snowing. But to bring a little brightness in the dead of winter, my African Violet is blooming like crazy. It reminds me of my gramma that always had violets in her kitchen window. When she passed I was blessed with one her beauties. I managed to keep it healthy for many years, but like most of my house plants it too passed on. I was devastated.

Now many years later I am trying again. Every time I look at those beautiful flowers I can see my gramma.

Thanks for sharing a trip down memory lane with me.

The Blackflies are Here

Well nice weather is finally here.  The snow is gone, the rain has stopped, and the sun is shining.  But along with the beautiful weather comes those nasty little black flies.  The other day on my day off I finally made it to my garden to clear the dead leaves and pine needles out of it.  Pretty bad ehh? All my spring flowers have pushed their way through the mess, so I had to be careful.  I think old leaves is the favorite spot for black flies to hide, because I was in a cloud of the little black guys the whole time.  I should have taken hubbies fashion advice when working outside, pull your socks up over your pants.  I had track pants on and ankle socks.  My ankles are a red mess of bites.  So bad they are swollen.  But the job got done.
If you remember me metioning my little mother daughter shopping trip.  When I purchased a couple of panpastels to try out.  Here is one of the cards I created.  What a soft looking background it creates.  I placed a mask down in the centre of the card, then brushed on the green color.  I then stamped with a letter stamp in versa mark, and used the same green to dust over.  Removing the mask, I stamped three images of a tulip (I think this is my favorite flower stamp).  I then colored in the flower with pink panpastel, and the leaves with green.

Todays fun is completing an art journal page.  I've seen several posts for art journaling and thought it would be a great way to try out new techniques before doing them on a card.  So I've started my first page.  Although right now it under a stack of book to try and flatten it, since it curled on me.  The disadvantage of living in a small town is not always being able to get your hands on supplies when you decide to do something.  So you make the best of what you have.

Going Girly

Wow, it's taken me a week do get the creativity back to make a card.  All week I've tried, and just stared at the supplies.  So I started knitting the kids socks, and working on a Christmas scrapbook.  Today I came home from work, and said "I'm going to make a card".  Then had to rush to get it posted on here before DH gets on the computer to play a little later.

Todays card is for four challenges.
Cupcake Crafts Challenges-Challenge #73-Going Girly
Cute Card Thursday-Challenge #95-Pink & Grey
Little Red Wagon-Challenge #11-Polka Dots

Last day school

This morning was very emotional for me. Today was the last day of school, and the awards assembley at the kids school. My daughter recieved an award called the Evan Luker Award. It is an achievement award given to a boy and girl in grade 4. Evan was a boy that went to their school about 20 years ago and was killed in a car accident. His parents set up the award to be presented every year to a boy and girl in grade 4. The Lukers still go to the school every year to present the students with the award. Its such an honor to have Sam receive this award. Makes us feel like we're doing something right with her. She really loves school and doesn't want summer vacation.

This card is one that I whipped up the other night to go in the card box for Sam's teacher. You can't tell in the picture, but the tulip is alittle shiney. It's painted with a new product I found called glass bead gel. You can add color to it, or as I did just left it and let it dry clear over the stamped image. It tiny glass beads in a gel.

Have a great day

Sam's Card

Today I thought I would show the handy work of my 10 year old daughter. I've been helping her make a card box for her teachers gift. I made the box at a card class at the craft store. It has two pocket on the inside, one to hold cards and the other to hold an address book that you make out of a 3x5 note pad. There is a holder for a short pen and stamps as well. Sam was to make card to go with it as well, but this is the only one she got done. (She will be picking a couple from moms stash) I think she did a great job until she drew on the balloons at the bottom. She thinks its wonderful and that's all the matters.

Grants was having a play day this afternoon. At the end of it the fire truck was coming in to spray down all the kids. It will be greatly appreciated, because it's another hot day.
Have a great rest of your day ;)

Wedding Cake

I found this simple card I believe on docraft. But when I went back to look again at it I couldn't find it. You would think I would learn to print it when I see something I like. I usually can't remember what site I saw it on.

It was a beautiful sunny day yesterday. And today when I'm home what's it do? RAIN.

Have a great week. Chat later. :)

Weddings

Summer is coming and so is wedding time. I have had requests for wedding cards. I have four to show you. Three I have for sale one I will have to make again if someone wants it. It is one I have picked for the wedding we are going to in England. But I wanted to get some feedback on it so included it in my ablum.

I think most of the wedding and anniversary cards I got from http://www.docrafts.co.uk/. It is a great site.

Have a happy day, the sun is shining today.

Black and White

The long weekend is over. I've got everyone off the school and work, and have five minutes to myself before I have to head out.
I got the idea for this card from a video I watched on using the cuddlebug to emboss. I have always cut out with it. Here I embossed the frame on and embossed flowers into the middle. I thought the black and white would look nice, and it just needed a touch of color on the flowers.
Have a great day=)

Pyramid cards

Well our Sunday has turned out not bad so far. At least the sun is shining. The wind is quite cool though. But some yard work will get done today.
So far this morning it has been tea and playing nintendo ds with Grant. Cars is what he is stuck on right now. And mom gets to do the ones Grant can't get. We have almost open all the games a couple of times but someone keeps hitting the dumpster and erasing everything. Happy gameing kids.
These cards look better in person than in a picture. They are pyramid. So eack layer of the picture is raised a little.
Happy Sunday to you;)

Busy day

Its Saturday just another day of the week for me. I was up and in to clean the store this morning. Stopped at the craft store to check out their sale for Card Making day. Bought the nassecities today(glue dots, tape runner, envelopes) and they got in some decoupage sheets that look just beautiful. I'm going to try a couple of them. I'm home again to rest my arm a bit, do some card making, clean up after the kids(a neverending job). Make super and off to work at supper time. But tomorrow is a day at home, just me and the kids. Hubby is off to a RC car race.
This stamp is from Stampin' Up. I even stamped one of the flowers on the button and embossed it in clear.
Have a good day :0)

Easter

I spent the weekend making Easter cards. I have to stay ahead of things. Sometimes I cann't card for a few days.
I picked up Cardmaker Magazine last week. This card was in there. There were quite a few cards that I liked. Ones done on parchment paper. Painted and pierced. I would like to learn how to do, but it means buying new tools. Some day .
Have a great day.

Missed work

Well I didn't even start work today and was called to get my son from school. He had hurt his knee at school before it even started. So after a trip to the doctors office to find out that no doctor was in till 5pm it was off to the hospital. After a three hour wait, we finally saw the doctor. He came home with crutches, and ended up going back to school for two hours.
Here is a card I found from the last batch of cards I made. Somehow I missed posting.

Home alone

It's hard to find something with sympathy on it, be it a stamp or stickers. I found this one from Stampin' Up. The flowers came with it too.
Today is my quite day. Home alone hasn't happened for a while. Last week my son decided he was sick, and had to stay home with me.
Have a great day

Be Mine

The countdown is on. Three days to go, to lift off.
Here is another card using that nice tulip paper. I like the little lady bug on it.
I have one more card made ahead, then I'm taking a break for a week. I'm going on a cruise.
