Red Poinsettias

My first Christmas card of the year. Although it's hard to think of Christmas when it's green and sunny outside.  My day off today was spent doing something I wanted instead of running the kids all over.  Daughter didn't miss the bus, so I didn't have to drive her. (Although that only requires throwing a hoody on over my pj's).  Son didn't forget something at home that I had to run into the school.  The whole day was mine.  Except for 45 minutes at lunch with hubbie.   After school we had to attend a parents meeting for my daughters France trip.  I so wish I had done the exchanges when I was in school, and am very pleased that my daughter is wanting to go.  Next year she will spend two weeks in Lyon France with a French student. In return the student will spend two weeks here.  It will be such an adventure for us all.

Back to my card.  I stamped my poinsettia in black ink.  Coloring was done with Spectum Noir blendable pencils.  Still practicing with them. I then tried to do a shadow around the flower, but didn't really like how it was turning out.  I found some gold mist in my stash and spritzed just my flower at first but didn't like that, so I did the whole card.  The centre of the flower is white pearls that I colored with a gold Sharpie marker.  The sentiment is a gold outline sticker.

Dancing in the Tulips

Good evening everyone.  What a great two days I have had, and tomorrow will make three.  I have actually managed to finish a card and make one.  I've gone for a walk two days in a row.  I've done a couple loads of laundry, but pretty much ignored the rest of the house work.  So I guess tomorrow is a cleaning day.
This card started out a big old boo boo.  When I scored it to fold in half I somehow scored off centre.  So when I folded the edges didn't line up.  But do not fear, my creative juices were working overtime.  With the card open I stamped with a little tulip stamp three times down the right edge. I then placed a piece of vellum over the stamped image and closed the card. This was so I could see where the image was stamped. From here I restamped the tulip lining up over the image already there.  The image is now complete when the card is closed.  The frame on the front was done using a die cut, placing a rubber mat in so that it embossed and didn't cut through.  Before lifting the die off I inked around and the inside.  I then stamped my image.  All images were colored with Spectrum Noir blendable pencils. The sentiment is an outline sticker in silver.

Good afternoon blogland.  Quick post before the rush to get ready for the New Year.  And clean out the shed to make room for the new tractor.  Our Kubota arrived just a short time ago.  Now the John Deere gets moved outside with a tarp over it till the new owner picks it up.  Because this one bigger, we must rearrange stuff stored in there to get it in out of the weather.  Looks like hubbie may be using it tomorrow too, we are getting some snow here today.

Tonight will be our usual, just us and the kids.  Chinese dinner, maybe a movie, a bit of family time. I'll try to make it till midnight.  Most of the week I've been in bed before.

My card today is my first attempt of a card like this.  I embossed cardstock with the snowflake pattern, cutting a circle in it.  The snowflake is cut out with the silhouette and held in place with gold thread.  I then used to foam dimensions to centre to the front of the card.  Gold outline stickers were used for the sentiment.

Friends forever

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.  We just turned on the Olympics to catch the last minute of the hockey game.  Canada 2 USA 1.  Then USA scored a goal.  Its into overtime.  I'm not a hockey person, but the kids and I are watching this one.

I made some time this afternoon between laundry and playing outside with the kids.  I still have a friendship cake drained on the counter that has to be made tonight.

My card covers three challenges.
Caardvarks-Use stickers.
Crafty Card Makers-Challenge #15-Tricolor-Make your creation based on the following color schemes.  Triatic, Split Complimentary, Analogous.
365 Cards-Day 358-Super Sketchy Sunday.
I just want to congratulate Pam over at 365 Cards.  Today is Day 365.  Looking forward to another 365 days.

Here is the sketch.

Perganamo

Well I've always admired perganamo cards when I see them in a magazines.  When I recently received a gift certificate from the craft store, I decided to buy some of the tools and try it out.  It's hard to find instructions on how to do it, so this has been a real learning experience.  First I traced it with a white pencil, and after embossing, I read the brief instrustions in the book again and realized I was to trace them with tenta ink.  Well our craft store doesn't stock the ink, only a couple colors and gold is not one.  So I found a gold pen, a little thicker than I wanted. And after I did the perferating and cutting out I used the gold pen (I guess I didn't shake it enough, it changed color part way through) around the embossing and the outline.  Turned out a little bolder than it should be.  To perferate the outside I used a pin, because the store was out of the 2-needle perferator.  I'm not into painting on my cards yet.  I paint wooden christmas ornaments. So I thought gold outline stickers would work well and colored it in with sakura pens.  The snow I sprinkled some glitter dust on the white pen before it dried.  Not bad for a first attempt.

Warm Wishes

I have had a busy week. With working all day, by the time I get home make supper and get kids to bed there isn't that much time left. This week I've been working on cards I have already done. I've given them away and wanted a copy to sell. When I was at the craft store picking up flower stickers I was out of, I found this cute cat sticker. So decided to make it like my flower one. Thought it would make a good kids card.
Have a great weekend :0)

365 challenge 143 144

Today's cards are for 365 cards challenge 144 You Raise Me Up. To add dimension to my cards I like these 3D images. They are fun to put together. Some added gems are always nice too.
The second one is day 143 Keep it to Yourself : Sympathy. I used the negative image of an outline sticker.
Well the last two days were nice and sunny out. Today I'm back to work and yes it's rainning. Which will make it busy today, because half our population in the summer is cottagers and they can't stay at the cottage when it rains. The thing to do is go grocery shopping. But at least it makes the day go fast.
Chat later :0)

Trains

Another overcast day here. It can't decide wether it is going to rain or clear up. What a summer we've had.
Here is a birthday card I've made for my dad's birthday present. I made him a card holder that I did at a card class. I'm filling it with cards for him. This train reminds me of our train ride in England. Although the train was a more modern high speed train. We took it from Manchester to London. What beautiful country side there was to see.
Everyone have a great weekend. ;)

Sam's Card

Today I thought I would show the handy work of my 10 year old daughter. I've been helping her make a card box for her teachers gift. I made the box at a card class at the craft store. It has two pocket on the inside, one to hold cards and the other to hold an address book that you make out of a 3x5 note pad. There is a holder for a short pen and stamps as well. Sam was to make card to go with it as well, but this is the only one she got done. (She will be picking a couple from moms stash) I think she did a great job until she drew on the balloons at the bottom. She thinks its wonderful and that's all the matters.

Grants was having a play day this afternoon. At the end of it the fire truck was coming in to spray down all the kids. It will be greatly appreciated, because it's another hot day.
Have a great rest of your day ;)

I can't believe how easy it was to whip up these two cards. Day 114 a dominant lavender, and Day 113.

Have a great day :)
