Your Kindness Is Greatly Appreciated

Good evening everyone. What a day at work. We are six days away from inventory and the whole staff is getting cranky. I've been told to only do crutial parts of my job till after inventory. I get to work out on the floor straighten up the store and making sure everything is where it needs to be. Today I was in automotive today, and tomorrow I get to play in to toy department.

My card I have to share has been hanging around for awhile. I love this tea stamp set. I have a collection of tea pots displayed on the top of my kitchen cupboard. So when I saw this set with a magazine I just had to have it. I colored my card with my favorite medium, pencil crayons. This card is a one-layer, so I was got to play with masking. When finished I colored lightly around the image and used gamsol to blend it out.

Waiting for Spring

Good evening blogland.  My coloring supplies are feeling a little neglected lately.  I feel like I'm expanding my collection but am afraid to use them.  I have a nice assortment of  colors in Tombow Markers, water color paints, and a beautiful set of Prisma color pens that I received for Christmas.  I sit and watch hours of videos of people coloring, wishing I could do that too. But afraid to jump in there.  So lately I've been trying different mediums. I'm getting the hang of blending pencil crayons. Water color was not bad. But the Tombow Markers I had the most fun with. Yesterday I colored a flower background. Now I'm not the quickest (it took me all day). But I really enjoyed it. I even managed to make it into a very simple card.

Ta da!

Nice bright colored flowers, makes me think of spring. Once again our weather has turned mild. Above 0 during the day. Rain is taking the snow away again. Which does not bother me.

Going through my emails tonight I noticed the new Simon Says Challenge is make a background. What luck.

Peach Flowers

Morning blogland.  I finally assembled the card I had colored for "the 30 Day Color Challenge" over at The Daily Marker. Kathy was calling with Sharpie markers.  I thought to myself  'I must try this'. She makes it look so easy. I have tried alcohol markers again and again. But I never like the result. My markers dried up and I ended up throughing them out. But I do have a pile of Sharpies and Bic markers. So I pulled them out, blew the dust off, and wow I'm impressed. Not bad.

Very simple. I stamped my image on a card panel. Colored with Sharpie markers. I found a piece of pattern paper in my stash that matched the color of the flowers, and cut a rectangle out where my flower would be. With the  same die cut I made a frame out of white cardstock and inked the edge with vintage photo distress ink.  Placing the frame on foam dimentions. The thanks was cut three times and stacked ontop of one another to add more dimention. Just a little finishing touch I added lemon chiffon liquid pearls to the centre of the flowers.

It's a good day to craft. I don't go into work till later this afternoon. It's rainy outside. We've had a warm system for almost a week. Most of our snow has disappeared from the rain. We have had several days of freezing rain warnings which causes the school buses to be cancelled. My boy is having a five day weekend today. He thinks it's great but exams start in two days, so they are missing out on their exam review.

Emboss Resist

Morning blogland.  There was a time a few years ago that our internet was a bell hub.  This ment that we were very limited on what we could do.  The biggest no no was videos (using up to much of our limited data).  I saved all the videos I wanted to watch.  So now that we have unlimited internet I am slowly going back to catch up on some technique videos.  This week I have managed to produce two cards.

Using my background stamp I heat embossed with white powder.  I then took distress inks and blended the background. Wiping with a dry towel when finished to brighten up the white emboss.  Then I cut out the front panel with a scalloped die.  Placing the card base with the cut front panel in my Misti I positioned my flower stamp, removing the front panel before stamping.  The image was colored with pencil crayons. I added little yellow pearls to the centre of the flowers and a little jute bow to the stems.  The sentiment was cute with a die three times and layered altogether to make them dimentional.

Thanks for stopping by.  And hope you enjoy my little creations.

All Tuckered Out

Evening everyone.  Well it certainly was difficult to return to work on Monday.  I was really getting used to staying at home. And my foot was thanking me too.  I'm having issues with a pain on the top of my foot, and last week it was starting to feel better.  I had purchased a Dr Scholls orthodic from the drug, and was thinking it was helping.  But it was just staying off my feet, because Tuesday was a killer after standing on my feet Monday.  It was back to icing and Ibprophen.  Today was my day off and the morning was spent at the garage.  Although I hadn't noticed I'd been there for two hours when hubbie called to check on me.  I was ready a good book.

Yesterday was the first day of spring.  Not looking like spring around here.  It has been snowing all week.  -5 temperatures.  I am so done with winter, looking forward to nice warm sunny skies again.  Although with that comes the black flies.  But at least they don't last as long as the snow.

When I got home I spent the afternoon creating.  I love the look of this blue against the white.  Just stunning.  I cut my 2x2 squares, stamped the flower on them, and inked around the edges with the same ink.  Adding a simple sentiment.

MMM Apple Pie

Happy Sunday to everyone.  And to all my friends in the US, I'm thinking about you all today on the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

We had a good first week of school.  Neither kid had alot of homework.  So they are easing in gradually.  Sam helps out in the kindergarten room during school, and at the end of school the teacher had given all the helpers a coupon for free ice cream cone at the parlor downtown.  We didn't use it all summer, so today was a nice sunny warm day we decided to use it.  The parlor is at the end of main street, and close to the Falls.  So we got our ice cream and sat on a bench to eat while watching the traffic.  After we walk over the falls.  They are reconstructing the turbines so the water is redirected around part.  You can see old pillars that you normally couldn't see.

The last week has been a bit cool, especially at night.  With fall, cool weather, comes apple harvest.  What better to make than pies.  My pie was cut from grunge board to give it depth.  The lighter strips were stamped on paper inked and cut out and glued on.  The little apples were cut from  dec. paper.

Cold Weather Here to Stay

Holy crap it's COLD.  -27 this morning when I went off to work.  I didn't see it get over -22 today, and right now it's back down to -27.  Can only image what it will be by morning.  Baked some cupcakes this afternoon, having the oven on just added more heat in the house.

My card today is one layer.  What a challenge, but I had fun with this one.  I started by stamping the flower in the center, and stamping it again on a piece of plain paper, to cut out for a mask. I then placed the mask over the flower and stamped the script with frayed burlap distress ink.  Before removing the mask I distressed around the flower with tumbled glass distress ink. I then removed the mask, and colored in with pencil crayons.  And stamped the Thank you with black ink.

First card of 2011

Happy New Year to all.  Hope everyone has a wonderful 2011.  It's been a relaxing day.  Played some video games with the kids this morning.  Had time to sit at the computer with my tea (a couple cups) and browse all the blogs, and challenge sites I've been missing.  And had time to make my first card of 2011.  After dinner we picked up all the Christmas stuff.  Packed it away for another year.  It's been a little quiet around here today.  Sam is sick. Soar throat, feeling sick.  She hasn't eaten much today.  And for her to sleep most of the day on the couch, she has to be feeling pretty bad.  She managed to stay up and watch a movie with us last night, to see her first New Years come in.  Now she says she's not staying up late again, because it made her sick.

The yellow paper started out white with the flowered background stamp embossed in white.  I colored some of the flowers with watercolor pencils, and then with a glaze pen overtop.  I then used yellow Distress Ink to color over all the paper, and straw color around the edges.  The stamped image was colored with watercolor pencils.  I stamped it three times.  Cutting out the open flower, mounting it with a foam square, and the bird, glued down at the head and tail, and a foam square under the wing.

Let Those Banners Fly

Happy Monday to everyone.  I have company with me at home today.  The little guy came down with a cold over the weekend.  He didn't sleep well last night, heard him coughing alot.  This morning he just didn't feel like going to school. So since I don't go in till later when DH is home I let him stay home.  I've had the anoying cough for a couple of weeks, but I finally broken and took Buckley for a few days.  That stuff is baaaad, but boy does it work.
Onto the good stuff.  Every week I check out Little Red Wagon, and all the other challenge sites out there, and every week like so many other challenges, life gets in the way and I don't get them done in time.  But this week I did it.  This is the first time I've tried a banner.  Not bad.
I've covered two challenges with this card.

Thanks a bunch

Hello everyone.  I've been busy trying to finish my sons bedroom.  His furniture is still sitting in the dinningroom.  Last night we had to make a trip to Home Depot for new trim.  I had sanded the old, and some of the paint had sanded off.  When I put the new paint on, it's kind of transparent and would never totally cover without doing many coats.  Just finished the first coat on the new trim.  Looks great.

With being back to work, I can make time in the evenings for crafting again.  And have managed to finish this card.  I really enjoyed trying the new technique put up by Crafty Card Makers-Spotlight Challenge-Spotlight Technique.  I first stamped the flower pattern in a brown distress ink twice.  On one I stamped over with a word stamp in a lighter brown.  I then cut out a square using a punch and colored it with markers, and placing it over the first one with foam squares.  I have seem this technique but never tried it, thanks Crafty Card Makers for giving me that little push.

The sketch I used for this card is from Card Patterns-Sketch 78.

Rainy and Sick

Yesterday was track and field at my daughters school. I go and volunteer for the day. Its great to see how all the kids do. I was timing races. There are some fast kids there.
Today my son was sick, so I had to call in to work. It was a rainy day. I ended up with a headach in the afternoon, and rest on the couch with Grant all afternoon watching movies.
This is a cute little thank you card I made up. Actually I saw it in a Stampin' Up Idea Book.
I was surfing for some ideas for wedding cards this morning. That is my next project. We have a wedding in July to go to in England, and I have had a couple of requests for them as well.
Have a great evening, talk soon =)
