It's a Boy

Good morning my blog peeps. And a belated Happy Easter to you all.  I had a four day weekend to spend with the family and enjoyed it immensely.  My daught had here first day of the season at the  golf course raking (she's glad to be back to work, running out of money).  And my son started two jobs, at the golf course and at Walmart. This is his first job.

I hope you have a nice sunny day where ever you are.  Today we are cloudy and rainy.  I did manage to get a walk in this morning with Maxwell before the rain.  The big drops started falling as we were walking in the driveway.

I am really enjoying my new work space.  Although I'm still trying to organize and find space for everything.  But I do clear the clutter to do some creating every now and then when I can find the time.

Here is a simple baby card.  Love the  little cutie stamped image.

As always I'm on the run.  Many things to get done before work.  Hope you have a great creative day.

A Walk in the Woods

Good evening blog friends.  I'm very pleased with how tonights card turned out. I don't use dies very often, but have been buying a few lately, hoping to combine them into my cards.

I started by stamping the deer with versa mark and heat embossing with brown.  I then mad a mask for the deer and the moon, and inked the background with distress ink.  Distress ink was used on the trees.  Another die was used for the grass along the bottom.

Baby Fever

Evening blogging friends.  Hubbie is having a baby boom at the office again.  The same three ladies as two years ago, all having girls then.  The one from the office has had hers, a boy.  One of the daughters from another co-worker has had hers too, a boy as well.  The other one is due in April, along with a friend of ours.  So I'm busy with knitting and making baby cards.

Last night I made hubbie a card to sent from the office.  Why just make one.  I did one for a boy and one for a girl.

When walking the dog lately, I've been taking him out back on our trail so he doesn't have to be on leash.  He is able to run free and just loves it.  Hubbie and son keep the path shoveled all winter which makes walking very easy.  Maxwell loves running the trail.  He usually runs ahead, I'll hang back and call him back.  Working on his come and giving him extra exercise.  Today I took a video of him letting out his Mad Max side.

Well I must get off to bed.  Have to work tomorrow.  Hoping for more than two hours of sleep tonight.

Peaceful Feeling

Good morning blog peeps.  Wow, look at that, I'm posting two days in row. Right now I'm just enjoying the quiet after 4 days with the family home.  Today was back to school and work. It's almost time for me to get ready to back tool.

I have noticed I have a few cards that I've made and have not shared.  It has been a bad year for loosing loved ones at hubbies office, he has used up my sympathy stash.  But there is always a silver lining.  There is another baby boom at his office.  So once again I'm knitting.

As I sit here posting I'm noticing the big mess I'm leaving on my counter.  I have spent the last couple days switching all my stamps from binders to Crafter's Companion EZBinders.  I have one more binder to go, then I have to unmount some of my rubber stamps.  Too many of them in one binder makes it hard to close.  I have found that if you peel the foam off the backs, clean all the sticky off, and brush on Aleene's Tack-It Over & Over, that the rubber stamp clings nicely to your page and blocks.  Thus not taking up so much room in your binder.  I have less storage space so I'm really trying to come up with betterr storage ideas that take up less space.

Back to my card.  This is one of my favorite stamps.  It reminds me of wheat feilds blowing in a breeze under the hot summer sun.  It also reminds me of my great uncle Bill.  He was a farm hand on a cow farm many years ago.  I can remember as a child going to visit him.  He lived in a little add on room to the wood shed.  Years later as he aged they built him a nice little house.  Miss you uncle Bill.

I heat embossed the stamp with white embossing powder onto a piece of patterned card stock.  I just noticed that I took the pic bsefore adding 3 brass colored gems on the sentiment strip before the with.  Hope you enjoy your day.

Best Family Day Weekend

Good evening blog peeps.  Well, my four day weekend has almost come to an end.  It has been the best, most relaxing four days with the family.  Quality time with my son and daughter, as well as hubbie.  Even had fun with Maxwell.

Saturday my son went out for pizza to celebrate one of his friends birthdays.  He asked for a birthday card for a teen.  My stock is very low on everything so it was off to the craft table.

This is what I came up with.

I finaly used the silver tape hubbie gave me, and a set of new dies.  It was a hit.

Had Enough Snow

Good evening blog friends.  I'm going to say this once again, where does the time go?  It's been almost two months since I last posted.  We've gotten through Christmas, snow, freezing rain, more snow, work, and even more snow.  The kids have actually gone to school this week, although there is still tomorrow and they are calling for snow squalls tonight.  The last two weeks have been two day weeks.

Today I had a wonderful day at my craft area.  All morning was spent organizing some more.  Putting away rearranging.  This afternoon I made two sympathy cards.

I embossed the image with white embossing powder.  Then colored with distress inks.  The first I mounted right onto the card base, and the second I layered before adding to the card base.

I did some wondering around challenge sights.  Hoping to get back into the groove again soon.

10th Annual Langford Cemetary Heritage Day

Good evening everyone.  It has been a wonderful Sunday.  I don't get many as I work every weekend.  But as the end of the month falls on a weekend I was able to spend the day with my family.  I was also able to visit with many friends and family at the annual Heritage Day at the cemetery.  It is the only cemetery in town that is still run by the community.  Once a year we have a cleaning bee, were everyone gathers for a morning to rake, pick up fallen branches and just tidey.  The grass is kept cut by a neighbour.  The whole thing is run on donations, and community involvement.

This week our little tractor went in to have a bucket put on.  The yard is not safe now.  Today it took the whole family to put the mower deck back on.  It takes literally two minutes to take the bucket off, and an hour to get the mower deck on.  But now our grass is cut.

My card tonight was made special for a good friend.  She had hernia surgery this week. I got inky with this one.  Playing with my distress inks is one of my favorite techniques.

Jingle Belles - Bring in the New

Good evening everyone. Well the temperatures were a little better this week.  Started out cold, but by the end of the week it was bearable.  And no snow, other than a dusting last night.
I have been working on this card all week.  The start of the week I sat down to color.  I actually did two of the same image.  One painted with new watercolor paints, and this one using my new Spectrum Noir blendable pencils.  I like the pencil one the best so decided to use it.

Today I finished my card.  After struggling for awhile to get the embossing the way I wanted.  The Cuttlebug folders don't quite fit a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card face.  The bakers twine I made myself.  And the  Merry Christmas I only had in gold, so I colored it with a Sharpie marker in silver.

Tomorrow is off to a badminton tournament with my son.  It's just a fun day for the kids.  Round robins, no keeping track of who wins, and no medals or trophy's.  And they get pizza for lunch.  I think that's why most of them are going.

Believe

Good morning everyone. Chilly morning here with the temperature dropping to -11.  I hope all my American friends and bloggers had their fill of turkey yesterday.  Happy Thanksgiving.  And happy shopping today, if you are out getting the Black Friday Sales.

Today is a finish up and pack up day for me.  Tomorrow is the craft sale I've been working so hard to get ready for.  I think I'm loosing my helper though.  She informed me yesterday that there is an "Event" happening in Star Wars this weekend and she has to play.  She can't even spare a few hours to help her poor mother.  I'm going to keep on her though.  She'll be there.

The stamp I used on this card is one I picked up when the Craft Nook closed down this year.  I love the look of this Santa and finally had to ink him up.  I choose to do a monochromatic card.

golden & silver trees

Good evening everyone.  Winter has landed here in my part of the world.  The kids had their second snow day today, with a chance of a third tomorrow.  They are calling for more snow squalls.
My card today was in Cardmaker Magazine.  This is one I cardlifted trying to find my mojo.  All the trees are embossed with gold and silver embossing powder.  The sentiment was stamped on vellum, and a brad used to make the berries.

Holly & Berries

Good evening everyone.  What a great day I've had.  It felt like a holiday.  I spent the day making a turkey dinner.  Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Loaf and buns baked this morning. And this afternoon the aroma of turkey cooking.  At Thanksgiving the turkeys went on sale for .79cents/lb. They were cheaper than a whole chicken, so I loaded up on. Dinner was soooo good I'm still stuffed.
It's so nice when a card comes together the way you invision it in your head.  This card I started by inking up my embossing folder. The red wasn't very bright so I added red stickles for the berries.  Added the red and green layers, and the sentiment.

snowman snowglobe

Good evening everyone.  Today was a very productive day.  After finding a larger table to work on downstairs, I then moved all my supplies back down.  Today was fix up day.  Finishing off cards that were half done.

My card this evening was fun for me to make.  It started when I was stamping some images to color.  When I sat down to color I envisioned this one in black and white.  So I set with my grey and black watercolor pencil.  When I went through my stash of paper I was unable to find black and white paper.  So I made my own.  Love the way the background turned out, looking like a snowstorm.  I even made my own black and white bakers twine.

Busy Busy Busy

OMG!!! I can't believe how the time is just flying by.  Two months since I was last on.  The kids have been out of school for almost a month now.  The oldest has her first job.  Working at the golf course just up the road.  She is really enjoying it.  Today she went with the owner to walk the dog.  Not your typical walk, it was a ride in a golf cart, waving a rag to get the dog to follow.  It's reward was a swim in the pond.  The other one is board.  Playing with his lego a lot and video games, with the odd chore thrown in.

Right now I thought I'd enjoy writing outside since it is very hot in the house.  Although I'm a little nervous, there seems to be a lot of noise coming from the bush.  Can't believe how much noise the birds and squirrels make.  I even saw a little mouse running along the wall.  Just as long as it's not the bear coming around again.  A couple weeks ago the bear stole the whole garbage can from the back door.  He really dragged it a distance, because we've been all over the bush and can't see any signs of it.  Which is too bad because it had the good raccoon strap on it and a bungy cord.  Last week we found the composter tore apart.

With my supplies packed up and moved all over the basement, I was able to find enough to make two cards last week.  On the weekend I had to go to a birthday party for family members, one was 65 and the other 80.  This is one of the cards.  This stamp reminds me of our little geckos.  Although they are not purple.

These will be my last cards till my new area is done.  I thought it was a mess before.  I came home from work yesterday to find what was left in my corner moved to the opposite side of the room in front of what was already there.  So the tote with all my paper is definitely unaccesible now.  I do have a couple of crochet projects I will share when they are completed.  I don't crochet much (more of a knitter) so it is slow going.  I can't figure out the instructions for a corner so had to put it away for awhile.  Usually I can figure it out when I go back to it.  Lets hope so because it's the last round.

Good afternoon blogland.  Quick post before the rush to get ready for the New Year.  And clean out the shed to make room for the new tractor.  Our Kubota arrived just a short time ago.  Now the John Deere gets moved outside with a tarp over it till the new owner picks it up.  Because this one bigger, we must rearrange stuff stored in there to get it in out of the weather.  Looks like hubbie may be using it tomorrow too, we are getting some snow here today.

Tonight will be our usual, just us and the kids.  Chinese dinner, maybe a movie, a bit of family time. I'll try to make it till midnight.  Most of the week I've been in bed before.

My card today is my first attempt of a card like this.  I embossed cardstock with the snowflake pattern, cutting a circle in it.  The snowflake is cut out with the silhouette and held in place with gold thread.  I then used to foam dimensions to centre to the front of the card.  Gold outline stickers were used for the sentiment.

A Happy Belated Merry Christmas

I would like to start by wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas.  With the rush of the season, internet problems, and the kids on the computer, it's sometimes hard to find the time to sit down and post.  I hope Santa found everyone, and you have been enjoying the holidays with friends and family.  This is the first time in along time that I have been home and not working.  So nice.

I would like to share with you this card that I made for my aunt.  A week ago she fell down her basement stairs and cracked her shoulder blade.  My poor cousin has had to do everything for her, including the baking that she didn't have done.  Poor Annette doesn't bake, but with aunties suporvision she managed to complete everything in time for Christmas Day.

I started with white cardstock and embossed the flowers with clear embossing powder.  I then inked with distress inks, wiping off the flowers when finished.  I spritzed some water on and added a pearl to the middle of the flower.  I mounted onto another white cardstock and then onto the card base using foam dimensions.

Santa brought me a set of pens for my silhouette, so I'm off now to download the free patterns that came with them.  It will be a silhouette afternoon.

I hate bad news

Evening everyone. Well we woke to a light dusting of snow this morning.  But most of it was gone by this afternoon.  We finished up the last of the outside chores.  Everything is now put away in the sheds or tarpped to keep the snow off.  We are ready for the snow.  Well at least the yard is, I could do without snow.

Tomorrow we were to head to the city to our nieces for a family day.  But last night we received a phone call that her father-in-law had passed away.  I wanted to make a simple one layer card to go in the mail, so this is what I came up with.  It's the first time I used my cutting die for embossing.  The first attempt with white ink didn't go so good, so I just stamped over it with versa mark and white embossed.

Tomorrow with be spent getting the house in order and packing.  Hubbie and the kids are on their own for a few days while I'm off in Ottawa with my auntie for Remembrance Day.

Happy Anniversary Card Patterns

Congrats Card Patterns on one year.  I enjoy your weekly sketches.  It gives me a great place to start when making a card.  Easter is on its way.  I've colored this little cutie from SU with watercolor pencils.  The little flowers are stamped in turquoise ink and clear embossed.
This card was made for Card Patterns-Challenge 53.
Here is the sketch.

I want to congratulate my daughter.  This week at school they started the battles for Battle of the Books.  She has done her two battles this week winning 9-3, and 8-3.  Her team moves on the the finals next week for their school.  If shes lucky enough to win,  they go on to compete with the other schools in the area.  Good luck sweetie.
You know when your a card maker when you see something and try to copy it.  Earlier this week I saw a  customer at work wearing a fleece jacket green in color with trees on it.  I came home that night and made this card. What do you think?

Until next time

Card Patterns

Morning ladies.  Just a quick post before heading out the door to work.  Our meeting yesterday at the school went very well.  I haven't pulled out the results from his first assessment in JK, but he is average or above average in everything but his articulation is still a problem.  She has requested Kurzweil for him in the classroom and luckily it is one that can be shared at home.  It may take till next school year to have it approved through the board.  But will be a great help to him when we get it.  Also a great benefit for the entire class.
My quiet morning yesterday, I made this card.  It is for Card Patterns-sketch 51.  This stamp set is one of my faves.  It is from Stampin Up Eastern Influences.  I did the whole card in black and white, stamping the flower twice, coloring it with distress ink and mounting it with foam squares.  I did all the images with black embossing to make them standout a little more.

Here is the sketch.
Have a great day and

365 Cards, Cupcake and Little Red Wagon

I'm about 24 hrs late posting my cards.  We worked removing snow from the driveway till 9:30 last night.  When I came in the power had flashed off and turned the computer off.  I was so tired just didn't feel like posting.  The snow has finally quit falling today and we had blue skies and sunshine.  I still didn't make it to work, because the car had sat for two days with the snow falling around it.  It was like it was in a pit.
Enough about the snow.  On to the cards.  This one is for Cupcake Craft Challenges-Challenge 69-Sing a Christmas Carol.  You were to choose your favorite christmas carol to use on your card.  I heard 'I'll be Home For Christmas' on the radio the other day and thought this stamp was perfect.  It is also for 365 Cards-Day 284-DIY Sketches.  Design your own sketch and create a card based on it.

Here is my sketch.

This pic is from Little Red Wagon-Challenge 6.  You were to be inspired by the photo.  I used a cuttlebug folder of the village (one of my fav christmas folder).  I embossed it on white wash green coordinations.  I sanded the houses a bit to show the green through, added glitter to the roofs and snowflakes, and added three little star jewel in the sky.  A bit of gold glitter around the edge.  I added the word 'Peace' on the bottom for 365 Cards-Day 285-A Certain Sentiment.  You were to use the word 'Peace' as the entire sentiment or as part of the sentiment.

Here is my card.

365 cards challenge day 155

Here is day 155 Super Sketchy Sunday for 365 Cards. As soon as I saw this sketch I thought of a Christmas card. I have no idea why. But here is what I came up with.
This is now Monday evening and the long weekend is finally over. After working all day I'm a bit tired. I at least had yesterday off with the family. I don't know if its been the weather or what, but the cottagers this year have been rather rood. (Well some of the locals too.) Only one more big one to go before the kids are back in school. (My daughter can't wait till school starts again.)
Must go now to get them headed to bed, so I can relax in the quiet.
Have a great evening :)
