January Calender in Bullet Journal

Evening everyone. The weekend is here. The whole family is still together for another week. It will be sad  next weekend when I have to take my daughter back to school.

Tonight I want to share the January calender I created. It was made with two different stencils. I taped down the birch tree stencil and colored with distress inks to make the sky. I layed the cloud stencil right over top to make the clouds. After removing the stencils I colored the trees with prisma pencils.

Sleigh Bells Ring

I'm up early rhis morning and off to work after having two days home with my family. I have been working on my bullet journal while home. I'll share some of my pages soon.

For now I wanted to share the card I created for all the managers and back office associates that I work with. Each one was done with different pattern paper. I found 6x6 pads at Micheal's. Christmas themes, one in pink colors and one in blue colors.

Merry Christmas 2018

Merry Christmas to all my blog friends out there. Hope you had a an amazing day as I did. Having my daughter home from college is always wonderful. We saved all the Christmas preparations untilsshe came home. We all decorate the tree, and her and I spend a day making cookies.

I'm finally starting to get my mojo back. I'm sharing just some of the Christmas tags I made for us. Tomorrow I will share the card I created for associates at work.

Enjoy your boxing day. And happy crafting.

Face Painting

Evening everyone. Here I sit i  my jammies at 9pm. Relaxing, and wishing we didn't have to return my daughter back to college today. She has been home for reading week. We had a great week. Last night she did a face paint on me for one of her assignments. She had to draw a flower then recreate it on a face. I think she did a great job.

She's having a great year so far. Struggling with hair a bit, but all her makeup classes are good. Her course is 'makeup for media'. Next year is year she us looking forward to if she can get into it. Third year is more of what she's after. Prosthetics and props.

First Snowfall

This is what we woke up to this morning.  Our first snowfall. It makes the trees look so pretty. Not a big fan of winter, so it can go away anytime.

Playing with Pixie Powder

Hello everyone. I know I'm a couple days late, but I hope everyone had a good weekend. I finally had a weekend doing what I want. Saturday was spent driving to the city to bring my daughter home for her reading week. We did some shopping on the way home at Spirit for Halloween costumes. Sam also needed some costume parts for a photo shoot assignment at college. Saturday night we spent catching up on TV shows on the PVR.

Sunday was great to sleep in. Laze around in the morning with tea and card videos. The afternoon was spent playing with some new products. Seems like I've been purchasing alot of product and not using it. The most recent is Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powder. Teal Wash and Lava Red are the two I purchased to try.

Grab a mug of your favorite beverage, this is a long one.

I started out with my journal, container of water, paint brush, spray bottle of water and of course pixie powder. I started by spreading water all over the page. Then shaking the powder on randomly.

I continued to shake and spray with the water bottle. Tilting the page to get some movement with the colors.

Next I taped two pieces of watercolor paper to the back of a clipboard, and repeated my pocess. Loving the look. Tie die.

Another new product is my new Cathy Allan's Positio It 2. I stamped this lovely lily stamp, yet another new product that came in Cardmaking & Paper Crafts. This is from a set by Jennifer Ellory called Hummingbird Sympathy. With this one I wet the area I wanted to paint in, sprinkled the powder, and used a wet paintbrush to paint it in the area.

I tried a second version with the stamp. I first wet the area that I wanted the stamp in. Then I sprinkled the powder, trying to get the colors to coordinate with the stamp. Once it was dry I stamped my image with black ink.

Now the challenge to make cards with these backgrounds. Be back soon.

Happy Birthday Uncle Bruce

Today is my uncles 69th birthday. Yesterday my two aunts and I went to the Home that he is in for a visit. We took him out to Tim Horton's to get him a birthday treat. Just like a kid, he was told not to drink his ice cap fast. Did he listen, no ended up with a brain freeze. He's such a flirt, waving at all the ladies.

Here is the card I made for him.

I had alot of fun making this card. I started with cutting masking paper to cover the front panel. I used square dies (that I had forgotten I had), to cut a window in the mask. I also used them to make a frame to go around it. The front panel was cut with a new die from MFT. I used distress inks to color the sky, and the clouds. The grass was cut with another new die from MFT. My Viking is also a stamp  from MFT. I colored him with prisma pencils and gamsol.

Move In Day

Evening bloggers. I can't believe summer is over. Where did the time go? Sam worked her last day today, and we are busy packing her up for 2nd year collage. Tomorrow is move in day. Early morning, we live 2 hours away and move in is 8-9am.  The truck will be all loaded tonight and ready to go in the morning.

Yesterday I was watching videos and came across one on Cardz TV. I thought the folded birthday card was interesting. I can do that. Here is what I came up with.

I had so much fun creating I made 2.

Pretty Poisies

Hello Blogland. It has been a very busy summer, and it's almost over. I am on day 3 of 2 weeks holidays. In less than a week we will be packing my daughters things up again and moving her back to college. I'm going to miss having her around.

After relaxing the last couple days, playing games on my tablet and catching up on some TV. I finally made my way downstairs to my craft area. I have had an image laying on my counter for weeks, all colored and cut out, just waiting for a card idea to pop into my creative space. Today I finished it. Ta da

The stamp is from Stampendous. I colored it with prisma pencils, using gamsol to blend the colors. The stamp is 2 part, the vase with stems and the flowers. The vase I attached directly to the card base, and I mounted the flowers with foam tape to give it a bit of dimension.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

Celebrate

After noon everyone. Hope your weekend is going well. I'm off today which is very unusual. But very nice to not be in the busy store.

I've been busy this week training the dog. Poor Maxwell was introduced to an electric collar on Tuesday. Wednesday I had a whole lot of anxiety happening. After one quick lesson and being left alone with something I wasn't quite sure of. But we made it, and I have hardly had to use it. The starting exercises are things that he already knows. So anxiety is gone and we are just having fun with it.

My card today was stamped right onto the card base, making it a one-layer card. The stamps I picked up at Michael's. They are a layering stamp, consisting of an outline and the solid base stamp. So the entire card was done with colored stamp pad.

I stamped one extra ice-cream cone, cutting it out and mounting on foam squares. Adding glossy accents to the ice-cream to give it some shine. Added a few dots of mint green liquid pearls. I stamped the Celebrate sentiment on pink paper to match the ice-cream, and matted it on black. Then adding foam squares to pop it up.

Till next time

Here We Go Again

Evening everyone. I have a get well card to share today. I'm posting it to myself. Almost 25 years ago, just after I met hubbie. I had TMJ surgery. One day I sneezed and the little piece of cartledge in the jaw fell out of place. After many months of not being able to open my mouth far, do anything that involved using the facial muscle, or eat anything other than mush. I had surgery to stitch that little piece of cartledge back into place. Things have been great. Until about a month ago. Home from work for dinner, enjoying a Big Mac with hubbie. Two bites to go, and crack. Oh that really hurt. And here we go again.

Today I had an appoint with a TMJ specialist. Damage can be seen in the xray, but to what extent he is unsure. So to start he gave me medrol, a steriod to help with the pain. And cyclobenzaprine to take at night to relax the muscle. I have to get more movement in order to have a new night guard molded. After that he will evaluate again for surgery. Which will mean a long wait for an MRI appointment so the surgen can see if there is enough cartledge left to repair. Here's hoping.

Enough of that. Lets get to the card.

This is the second attempt at these cards. I had to trash the first ones. After making some mistakes and learning the properties of some of my markers and inks, these two turned out pretty good. I embossed the images with black embossing powder, then colored them in with prisma color pencils. A little inking around the edges and done. Very simple.

Happy Retirement

Evening all. Here we are at the start of another busy weekend in Muskoka. The traffic is heavy on the highway, as well as at work. It was a crazy day. Glad I was done early afternoon. Monday will be our Human Resource Associates last day. She is retiring. Marilyn will be missed by alot of us. She is the glue that holds our store together. Who ever replaces her has some big shoes to step into. I can only think of one person that can do it. We will find out next week.

So the last couple nights I have been working on a special card. I quite like how the white pencil crayon looks on the black card. I found a textured card in my stash and thought it could be used for the same technique.

I am really happy how it turned out. Texture and all. I also used a new stamp from Stampendous. I found I didn't have any larger flowers that could be easily coloured. I couldn't find the right sentiment to add to the front, so I just wrote a sweet note inside.

Till next time.

Pencil Crayon Storage

Afternoon all. I have the day off, and am really enjoying it. I started off with a few loads of laundry washed and hung on the line. Met my girlfriend for coffee. Picked my daugher up from work at noon. Both kids are home with me today, with a couple extras thrown in. It's so nice that my daughters friends get along with my son as well. They are all upstairs playing video games. And I get to enjoy the quiet in my crafting area.

Yesterday the first of my purchases from Wish arrived. A case to hold my set of prisma color pencils. I spent lastnight transfering them over.

Can't wait to use them. I like that they are all layed out where you can see them, rather than sorting through the layers in the tin.

Todays mail had the black case. Slightly smaller.

I organized all my TomBow markers in it out of a clear plastic stackable container.

Well it looks like I must finally clear my desk to make room for scrapbook layouts. Hubbie asked today if I'd gone through the boxes of kids school work. I think the easiest way to do that is to scrapbook what I want as I go.

Mini Sets

Morning all. We finally have a break from the heat. We have been dealing with a heat wave here in Ontario. 38C feeling like 45C. It has been so hot I try to stay in the house unless I really need to go out. So I have found a few moments this week to play with some mini stamp and die sets I picked up at Michaels a while back. They contain some layering stamps and each has a die to cut one of the images. I have stamped them all and cut an image of each die to go into my sample binders. Cutting out extras to add to cards. That will be the goal for this week. To make a card for each set.

Really looking forward to the treats set. I can see some glitter being used. Well enjoy your weekend.

If it's Not Messy Your Not Creating

First up, Happy Canada Day!!!

Second, I came down to my work area this morning to clean it up and make room to lay out scrapbook pages. We are moving on to the next section of basement renos. Which means moving boxes again. Hubbie came across 4 boxes of the kids school stuff. You can imagine his comments. Doesn't think you need to keep everything. So it's time to get all their memories into their books.

But cleaning didn't get done. I found a new stamp set I had been messing with. So of course that took my attention. The scrapbooking will have to wait another day.

Congrats on your little Nugget

Good evening blogland. Well alot has been going on at work lately. They finally approved to have another full time position for the CSM's. I have been waiting for about a year and half for this position. And after almost a week of keeping it quiet, I am putting it out there. I got the position. Yah!!! Finally full time.

My card today was made for an associate that I work close with.  Our Lead CSM is expecting. It's so exciting watching her belly grow. Remembering the birth of my kids. It has just been a short time since we found out she was leaving on mat leave. Thinking she was 5 months when she announced it at work to only find out a few days later that she was 7 months. So out came my crochet hook to get a sweater done before she left. Today was her last day. Taking two weeks holidays then into mat leave. I am going to miss her for the next year. We work so well together.

Megan has a little farm. Turkeys, chickens, and her baby porkchop the pig that lives in the house with them. So when I thought of making a card for her I pulled out my new set from 'lawn fawn', 'critters on the farm'.

Here is everything, getting ready to start. I actually had a great time making this card. I believe it is the first actual scene card I have made.

And here is the finished card. I had so much fun cutting out the cute little images. I used colored cardstock for most of them, and added extra colors with markers and distress ink.  The sheep I used fabric paint stippled on to give it texture. The pigs collar although very small has porkchops name on it. The card was then signed by alot of the associates at the store. I went in today on my day off when they were giving it to her. What a surprise it was.

White Pencil on Black

Morning blog friends. Stopping in for a quick post before heading to work. As I was going through utube videos the other day, trying to get caught up. One technique caught my eye. It was on Sandy Allnock's channel. Coloring with white pencil on black cardstock. Very stunning, and I just had to try it. I was very happy how it turned out.

Hope you give this a try, and go check out Sandy's blog.

Welcome to your New Home

Hello everyone. I hope everyones week is going fine. After the weekend we had, I am enjoying the grey skies. The whole weekend was either freezing rain or snow. Not just one go round of each but multiple. I can not wait for winter to be over.

The other day I whipped up a 'new home' card before heading into work. A co-worker has just moved into a new apartment. I wanted her to know I was thinking of her on her big moving adventure.

I found the black letters in my stash, and adheared them to my card. The house was stamped right onto the card and colored with prisma color pencils. I used a white gel pen to add to the letters and house, and scattered a few sequins.

She was so touched by the card. Made me feel good to put a smile on her face. We  will have coffee next week, so I can see her new place.

Two Years In the Making

Happy Easter to all my blog friends out there.  This is a great Easter weekend, although I have to work today. Thursday I drove to the city to pick up my daughter from college. So good to have her home. It has been a hard 7 months with her away at school for the first time. But she has done well and there is only one month to go and she will be back home for the summer.

Well my son is very happy as well. I have finally finished his Mindcraft blanket that I gave to him two Christmases ago in pieces. I told him it was a 'build a blanket' he had to put it together. That didn't go over so well. So after working on it every now and them I have finally completed it. He was so happy yesterday, he sat on the couch all morning watching TV snuggled under his blanky.

And the big reveal.

This is Steve. With over 300 squares it was quite the job. The pattern came from The Loopy Stitch.

It's off to work. Going to be a busy day with the store being closed yesterday and again tomorrow. We gather tomorrow with hubbies side of the family. We only seem to meet up once a year at Easter. Looking forward to it. But not looking forward to dropping Sam back off at school afterwards.

happy Easter to all

Hoping you Perk up Soon

Evening blogland.  I have managed to finish three cards. I've been playing with my new stamp from My Favorite Things. The Pure Innocence Steeped in Love stamp was so much fun to color. I used my prisma pencils and blended with gamsol.

Card #1

I matched her dress to the card base.  Blew the dust off a border punch, and used it on a piece of patterned paper.  Added a few sequins.

Card #2

This one I used the matching die to cut the image in the front of the card.  Placing the card in my Misti I placed the stamp into the cutout area and stamped with black ink, so that the image is stamped on the inside of the card.  The sentiment was stamped directly onto the card front.

 Card #3

The purple pattern paper was embossed with Spellbinders Die D-Lites Create a Flower (which you can't see in the picture).  I added sparkly ribbon that I found at the dollar store, and some dots of liquid pearls.  The card front was added to a white card base.

Next cards in progress are Easter.  Shopping at the Dollar Tree the other day I found some Easter stickers, glitter paper, and glitter ribbon.  These will be used to make cards for our family since I didn't send off the Christmas cards.  I still have the kids school pictures that have to be delivered before they are a year old.

Waiting for Spring

Good evening blogland.  My coloring supplies are feeling a little neglected lately.  I feel like I'm expanding my collection but am afraid to use them.  I have a nice assortment of  colors in Tombow Markers, water color paints, and a beautiful set of Prisma color pens that I received for Christmas.  I sit and watch hours of videos of people coloring, wishing I could do that too. But afraid to jump in there.  So lately I've been trying different mediums. I'm getting the hang of blending pencil crayons. Water color was not bad. But the Tombow Markers I had the most fun with. Yesterday I colored a flower background. Now I'm not the quickest (it took me all day). But I really enjoyed it. I even managed to make it into a very simple card.

Ta da!

Nice bright colored flowers, makes me think of spring. Once again our weather has turned mild. Above 0 during the day. Rain is taking the snow away again. Which does not bother me.

Going through my emails tonight I noticed the new Simon Says Challenge is make a background. What luck.

Feeling Crappy

Good day blogland. There have been quit a few illnesses going around this winter. I have managed to avoid them all, even though my son has brought many home. Until this week. Head cold. Bad timing. Good thing, I am past the contagious stage thankfullly. I am going to visit my daughter at college for an overnight. I know it has only been a month since she was home at Christmas, but that seems so long ago. Looking forward to mother daughter time.

My cousin has been sick too. He has had walking pneumonia. So I thought he would get a kick out of the 'Holy Crap' stamp set from Repeat Impressions.

I had fun with this one. Making the scene with die cuts, and coloring the outhouse with pencil crayons.

Peach Flowers

Morning blogland.  I finally assembled the card I had colored for "the 30 Day Color Challenge" over at The Daily Marker. Kathy was calling with Sharpie markers.  I thought to myself  'I must try this'. She makes it look so easy. I have tried alcohol markers again and again. But I never like the result. My markers dried up and I ended up throughing them out. But I do have a pile of Sharpies and Bic markers. So I pulled them out, blew the dust off, and wow I'm impressed. Not bad.

Very simple. I stamped my image on a card panel. Colored with Sharpie markers. I found a piece of pattern paper in my stash that matched the color of the flowers, and cut a rectangle out where my flower would be. With the  same die cut I made a frame out of white cardstock and inked the edge with vintage photo distress ink.  Placing the frame on foam dimentions. The thanks was cut three times and stacked ontop of one another to add more dimention. Just a little finishing touch I added lemon chiffon liquid pearls to the centre of the flowers.

It's a good day to craft. I don't go into work till later this afternoon. It's rainy outside. We've had a warm system for almost a week. Most of our snow has disappeared from the rain. We have had several days of freezing rain warnings which causes the school buses to be cancelled. My boy is having a five day weekend today. He thinks it's great but exams start in two days, so they are missing out on their exam review.

Gotta Love the Courier Guy

Evening everyone. I have managed to spend more time crafting lately. A couple of hours in the evenings.  And it's always inspirational to get new supplies.

When I saw the Norce Man from My Favorite Things Stamps I knew I had to have him, and the matching die. And you just can't order one. You have to make the shipment worthwhile. Here is my little package that was delivered by courier today.

Maybe I will get a chance to color this big guy tomorrow.

Hello Gramma

Good morning. Well our deep freeze has finally ended. It us a lovely -5°C. Far cry from the -30 on Saturday. But once again like yesterday it is snowing. But to bring a little brightness in the dead of winter, my African Violet is blooming like crazy. It reminds me of my gramma that always had violets in her kitchen window. When she passed I was blessed with one her beauties. I managed to keep it healthy for many years, but like most of my house plants it too passed on. I was devastated.

Now many years later I am trying again. Every time I look at those beautiful flowers I can see my gramma.

Thanks for sharing a trip down memory lane with me.

Need a Little Pick Up

Good afternoon. I know I'm late but Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. The last couple weeks over Christmas have been really busy. We brought our daughter home from college on December 22nd. Because of the teacher strike in the fall they have to make up for four weeks of not being there.  So her vacation was shortened to one week.  We had alot to do in one week, and fit work in there too. Unfortunately I wasn't able to have vacation like the rest of the family. The downside to working in retail.

No baking was done this year because Sam likes to help with that. And the Christmas tree didn't go up till she got home. We put the final touches to it on Christmas Eve. You just make the best of what you have. We were all together and that's all that matters.

New Years was quiet. My daughter went out with friends. The boy stayed home and played on the computer, and I worked on a diamond dotz. Hubbie played on the computer with a buddy, stopping a 11:55 to roll in the new year, then back to his game.  I hit the bed because it was up early New Years Day to drive Sam back to school.

We are all settling back into day to life. Hubbie is back to work, as well as me, although hours are down so I have a little more time at home to play. The boy has this week off but back to school Monday. He has had a great holiday. They have not worked him much more than the hours he has during school. He's loving it.

Now down to business. Last night hubbie asked for a thinking of you card for a co-worker. He has been off work since before Christmas with a concusion that he got while working.  I always struggle with masculine cards. But this guy has a red pick up so I did a card with a red truck on it.

I used an embossing folder to give it that metal look.  And the image was colored with prisma pencil crayons (my treasured Christmas gift). Before putting it all together I used distress ink tea dye to go around the edges.

Hope everyone has a great New Year. Till next time.
