Friends are Like Chocolate Chips

Afternoon blogland. Well our weather has warmed up today. -9 when I got up with a high of around -2.  Much better.

Last night I tried my hand at a humorous card, and one-layer.  I like the look of one-layer cards when someone else does them.  Not so much when I try.  But now that I have found One-Layer card blog, maybe I'll get more practice.

Card Class

Using distress inks.  Just home from the Craft Nook, our local craft store.  Today was working with distress inks.
On this card we started by cutting out the shape.  Then stamp the words stamp onto a piece of white paper.  Then using versa mark stamped the florish and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I then colored the paper with distress inks.  The metal embelish is cool.  A washer with glossy accents in the centre and a dew drop stuck in the centre.

On this one I used the distress ink to stamp the background and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I have tried this technique before and it didn't work so well.  But we figured out I probably not putting enough ink on the stamp.  This one worked out just fine. The little girl is colored with pencil crayons.

Another wonderful afternoon spent doing what I like best.  Thanks Lilian.

Best Friends

Afternoon everyone.  Day off work, so not doing too much.  Kids are still home till next week.  Took them out to the library today to get another battle book, as they had finished the ones they brought from school.  One we could only get on audio.  Then we had to search the house for a play because it's an old cassette.

My card for today was done for 365 Cards-Day 308- Super Sketchy Sunday
Sentimental Sundays-Challenge #36-Celebrate Friendship
The background was stamped and embossed in white.  I got to try out my new tool, EK Success powder tool.  Works great at keeping the powder from sticking all over.  The little girl stamp is from Hero Arts, and I colored her with watercolor pencils.  The dots on her dress were done with liquid pearls.

Here is the sketch.

Have a joyous day.

attitudes

Afernoon everyone.  It's been a cool week.  We've already turned the heat off for the summer because it had been so warm.  Now we're wishing it was on.  The downstairs is really cool, and thats were my craft stash is.  In the evenings it's a little chilly to work.  But hey it has to warm up soon.
Last night I was able to put together this card.  The sentiment was downloaded free from Sentimental Sundays, and the card qualifies for thier challenge #6 New or Neglected Stash.  My flowers are my neglected stash.  I had to blow the dust off them to use.

The sketch is from 365 Cards-Day 98-Super Sketchy Sunday.

Off to make dinner, it's the last night of swimming.  We're now down to two activities.  And school trips and luncheons start next week.

Friends forever

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.  We just turned on the Olympics to catch the last minute of the hockey game.  Canada 2 USA 1.  Then USA scored a goal.  Its into overtime.  I'm not a hockey person, but the kids and I are watching this one.

I made some time this afternoon between laundry and playing outside with the kids.  I still have a friendship cake drained on the counter that has to be made tonight.

My card covers three challenges.
Caardvarks-Use stickers.
Crafty Card Makers-Challenge #15-Tricolor-Make your creation based on the following color schemes.  Triatic, Split Complimentary, Analogous.
365 Cards-Day 358-Super Sketchy Sunday.
I just want to congratulate Pam over at 365 Cards.  Today is Day 365.  Looking forward to another 365 days.

Here is the sketch.

Friends

Today Samantha's recital went very well. She played with a group of kids, then took her turn and played a solo. She did very well. Now Grant wants guitar lessons. His hands are too small to hold a guitar. When he plays guitar hero he lays the guitar on his lap so he can push the buttons.

Last week I went to a card class at the Craft Nook. We learned how to use watercolors. I enjoy doing these. I've always liked to color. This one was done with pencils. The butterfly is an outline sticker put onto vellum and colored with identa pens.

Hope the start to the week is sunny. (What am I saying, it will be I'm working.)

Keep smiling. Chat later. ;)
