Nuts for you

Today we went to visit my mother-in-law.  She is about an hour and half away.  She's in a retirement home now so it's usually a trip down to take her out for lunch and a little visit in her room.  Today the kids took their instruments to play for gramma.  Sam took her violin because gramma hasn't heard her play.  And Grant had to take his new guitar to play because his sister was playing.  A bit of shopping at Staples before coming home, because we don't have one.  And home in time for  the kids bedtime.
Last night I finished this card up.  Another of my 3D critters.  This guy is soooo cute.  The sketch is from Cuttlebug Challenge, a bit back.

It is mom-in-laws birthday in a couple of weeks, so I thought we may not be back to see her before then.  Last night I made this very simple card using the new background stamp from HeroArts that I just picked up yesterday.  I see great potentional for this one.

365 Cards

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.  We did.  I've been home since Christmas Day, so its been nice.  Sweatshirts and loungie pants is all I've worn.  How relaxing.  I've done a couple of scrapbook pages, a couple cards, and tried to tidy up my area while finding room for all the new stuff.  Hooked up my new laser printer today.  And I've spent the last four days learning how to use my new cell phone.  We had an old one we carried for emergencies.  The kids at work laughed at it, it didn't flip open, it was just one handset,so I would have to lock the keypad so you didn't dial someone when it was in your purse.  Enough about that, on to cards.
I put tegether these little 3-D critters before Christmas, and they were sitting on my work space getting in the way.  I made these cards for 365 Cards-Day 302-Sketchy Sunday.

Here is the sketch.

Well the countdown is on, three days to go, and two more to work, then its a week home with everyone.  Kids are getting pretty pumped.  I managed do a scrapbook page for Page Maps.  This is our big snow storm we just had.  I have to learn to take better pics of my pages.

Here is the sketch that was given.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday DH.  It's also my dads partners birthday, which is who this card is for.  I picked up a pack of birthday paper by Imaginisce, a couple weeks ago, and this is the first chance I've had to use it.  We are going out for dinner tonight to celebrate the two birtdays.  This afternoon DD did a violin recital at a seniors home.  It was so nice to hear the residents trying to sing along.  Some of them sounded like our dog when Sam plays here.
This card was made for Little Red Wagon-Challange 7-Sewing.  Thanks ladies for featuring my card this week.  I love your blog.  Your all so talented.  I cheated on the sewing part.  I poked holes and used a marker to join the dots.  I tried sewing with my machine on a scrapbook page a couple weeks ago, and it was hard.  I found the paper slipped, it was hard to keep it straight.  I'll have to practice.
Have a great weekend.  Tomorrow I plan to do my Christmas baking, which should have been done weeks ago.

Kids card

I can't seem to find the time to make cards.  But in another week I will be home for a week.  Looking forward to a week with the whole family at home.  Staying up late, sleeping in, playing with the kids, and best of all hopefully craft time.
My little guy brought this card home today.  He made it at school.  He did a pretty good job.  The hat is cloth and droops over the top of the card.  Very proud of him.

365 Cards, Cupcake and Little Red Wagon

I'm about 24 hrs late posting my cards.  We worked removing snow from the driveway till 9:30 last night.  When I came in the power had flashed off and turned the computer off.  I was so tired just didn't feel like posting.  The snow has finally quit falling today and we had blue skies and sunshine.  I still didn't make it to work, because the car had sat for two days with the snow falling around it.  It was like it was in a pit.
Enough about the snow.  On to the cards.  This one is for Cupcake Craft Challenges-Challenge 69-Sing a Christmas Carol.  You were to choose your favorite christmas carol to use on your card.  I heard 'I'll be Home For Christmas' on the radio the other day and thought this stamp was perfect.  It is also for 365 Cards-Day 284-DIY Sketches.  Design your own sketch and create a card based on it.

Here is my sketch.

This pic is from Little Red Wagon-Challenge 6.  You were to be inspired by the photo.  I used a cuttlebug folder of the village (one of my fav christmas folder).  I embossed it on white wash green coordinations.  I sanded the houses a bit to show the green through, added glitter to the roofs and snowflakes, and added three little star jewel in the sky.  A bit of gold glitter around the edge.  I added the word 'Peace' on the bottom for 365 Cards-Day 285-A Certain Sentiment.  You were to use the word 'Peace' as the entire sentiment or as part of the sentiment.

Here is my card.

Three and half feet of snow and still going

Just a quick post to show you what we've been doing all afternoon.  (And not even half way done.)  Today was the third day the buses didn't run, and some schools were even closed.  By late morning most of the stores in town had closed down, and the police were asking people to stay home and not travel the roads, as they were having a hard time keeping them ploughed.  The snow was up past my knees when I waded out to take a picture of the cars, which had been cleaned off 24 hrs earlier, or rather lack of them.  I did manage to make a couple cards this morning, which I will post later.  We still have to finish the driveway.  I have to work in the morning.  (hopefully I can get out, it's still snowing)
First, here are the cars.

The dog that followed me to take the picture.

Will it ever end?

Pick 5

Wow we have had so much snow over the last two days.  It started yesterday, a snowday for the school (no buses running).  But I braved the snow and dropped the kids off on my way to work.  Today another snow day.  This time I opted to stay home with them, since I didn't sleep well last night.  (I'm coming down with a cold).  I couldn't have gotten out of the driveway anyway, there was soo much snow.  My dad came over this afternoon to help me with the snowblower.  DH was away this week on business and I don't use the blower, but he returned home late this afternoon.  He has since done the driveway again, and said it could be done again.  I forsee another snow day tomorrow.  At least the snow puts everyone in the Christmas spirit.
Onto my card.  I was able to make one this evening.  It was fun to do.  My daughter picked out the 5 items to be used on the card.  They are ribbon, brads, stamp, flowers, and decoritive paper, and she wanted the sentiment to say 'just relax at home'.  It didn't really fit so I shortened it to 'just relax'.  The card is for 365 Cards-Day 283-Pick 5.  You were to have someone pick 5 things from your stash for you to use on your card.  I followed the sketch from Card Patterns-Sketch 44.  Turned out not to bad.
Here is my card.

Perganamo

Well I've always admired perganamo cards when I see them in a magazines.  When I recently received a gift certificate from the craft store, I decided to buy some of the tools and try it out.  It's hard to find instructions on how to do it, so this has been a real learning experience.  First I traced it with a white pencil, and after embossing, I read the brief instrustions in the book again and realized I was to trace them with tenta ink.  Well our craft store doesn't stock the ink, only a couple colors and gold is not one.  So I found a gold pen, a little thicker than I wanted. And after I did the perferating and cutting out I used the gold pen (I guess I didn't shake it enough, it changed color part way through) around the embossing and the outline.  Turned out a little bolder than it should be.  To perferate the outside I used a pin, because the store was out of the 2-needle perferator.  I'm not into painting on my cards yet.  I paint wooden christmas ornaments. So I thought gold outline stickers would work well and colored it in with sakura pens.  The snow I sprinkled some glitter dust on the white pen before it dried.  Not bad for a first attempt.

Holy Snow Storms

It was the annual Santa Claus Parade in town today.  Usually we miss it for some reason.  Today DH was off to the city for the first RC Car Race for the 2010 year.  Me and the kids planned to go to the parade, she Santa in the park after to deliver their letters, and buy dads christmas present.  We did manage to get three presents for dad.  Here is a picture of the start of the parade.  It was snowing so hard you could hardly see the police cruiser coming over the hill for the start of the parade.

Part way through one of the pick ups with a plough on was plowing the street.

After the parade we were cold, so no Santa, and we stopped at Tim Horton drive threw for hot choc. and timbits to take home.  We did manage to get the Christmas tree up at home.

3-in-1

Here it is Dec. 4 and we're getting snow.  After such a wet summer, our fall has been wonderful.  And just a light snowfall on Dec. 1 which disappeared by the end of the day, was much nicer than last year.  Snow from the start of Nov.  The kids were so happy today when they got up and saw the snow.  Me on the other hand am not a winter person, I much prefer the warmth.  But I'm stuck with it.
It's been a nice quiet morning, i haven't had a day at home by myself for a while.  So far I've drank tea, read the paper and weekly flyers, drank tea.  I plan do some scrapbooking this afternoon.  I'm trying to put all the kids school stuff into a scrapbook.  Using their actual art pieces were I can.  Most are too big so I've taken pictures of them, before they hit the trash can.  (I just don't have room to keep everything.)
Onto card stuff.  I've finally finished a card this week.  The sketch I used for it was Card Patterns-Sketch 43.  This was last weeks sketch I didn't get it done on time, but I liked it and used it anyway.  Card covers 365 Cards-Day 275-Tis the Season.  You were to make a red and green sominant color card, of any theme.  I know this time of year red and green should be for Christmas but I've done so many Christmas cards I'm sick of them.  Second Challenge-Cupcake Caft Challenges-Challenge 68-Red and Green.  Third-Little Red Wagon-Challenge 5-Heavy Metal.  You were to use metal on your project.  I found a charm saying 'be kind' that I had picked up a while back for just such emergencies.  Hope you enjoy.

Finally some craft time

Finally I've had some time this morning to sit down and make a couple cards.  Yesterday my little guy was up at 4am sick.  He was running from both ends.  DH had taken the day off to go do his Christmas shopping, so he got the honour of sitting with a sick child while I went to work. Well I thought he would be OK, that he just needed to sleep for the day.  Apparently while I was away he threw up all over the living.  (Couch, carpet, blankets, glad I didn't have to clean that up) He was sleeping it off by the time I arrived home at 2.  DH got to leave and do his shopping.  Today I stayed home with the little guy and today he's just lazing around.  Which gives me time to play. Enough about that and on to the good stuff.
The first card is made with a new folder I just picked up from Cuttlebug.  Very simple card , I added some jewels and glitter that is really hard to see in the picture.  The ribbon is two pieces put together.  I made this for Cuttlebug Challenge-Be Inspired #59.  You were to add glitter, bling, and a cuttlebug of course.  This is also for Crafty Cardmakers-Challenge #9-Alternative Christmas.  You were to create a project using a Christmas image in a NON TRADITIONAL COLORS.  No red, green, gold combos.  I choose navy blue card and matched the jewels to this.
I also made a birthday card using the sketch from 365 Cards-Day 274-Super Sketchy Sunday.  This also qualifies for Cute Card Thursday-Challenge #88-Snips, Snails &Puppy Dog Tails.  You were to make a card for the younger boys.  I used a stamp from SU, found some fishy paper I thought would go nice, and versa marked on the card with the same boat stamp.  I used Distress Ink to put the water on under the boat.
Here is my card.

Here is the sketch.

Hope you enjoy.
