60 Years Strong

Wow what a scorcher again today.  The second day of 30 degrees, with high.  They are calling for showers tomorrow which will cool things down a bit.
Update on the dog.  She had a check up today.  Things are still healing.  It takes so long.  We continue on the steroids, and have a topical cream on order.  I'm hoping the cream is going to speed up the healing now that the hole is not as deep.  As for her cone of shame, it's still on.  Although we can remove it when she's within eye sight so we can keep an eye on her.
Sixty years of marriage.  Can you imagine.  I don't think we'll see that very much in my generation.  Divorce seems to be the norm right now.  I can't believe how many of the kids classmates are in a split family.  Me, I can't image life without my hubbie.  He is my best friend.
My card tonight is for a request for a 60 Anniversary.  Diamond is the color, so I tried to make the card sparkle.  Starting with an outline sticker, I filled in the birds with glossy accents, and sprinkled glitter on it.  The flowers were colored with sakura pen to match the matting.

Wedding Bliss

Welome to the weekend.   Hope everyone is having better weather than we are.  Rain all day, although it is much needed.  We have been under a fire ban, it's been so dry.  Tomorrow is my Sunday off, and they are calling for sun and a high of 29.

Tonight I'm sitting relaxing with my girl.  Catching up on taped episodes of Missing.  I'm blogging and she's sketching in her new sketch book.

Here is the second of my cards.  A couple weeks ago I picked up the new set of inks from Tim Holtz, trying to motivate myself. I love the colors. Had fun with this one.  One of my fav stamps to play with it the polaroid stamp.  Adding a simple bride and groom to it.  The bouquets were stamped in versa mark and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  I then inked over.

Three Cards Complete

OMG!!!  I can't believe how long it's been since I have last posted.  Life just seems to be flying by lately.  House reno's are going slow.  We dive in and get one job done and then slow down and just pick away at it.  Dog is slowly getting better.  I can't believe how long it takes to heal.  She still has her cone of shame on, but hopefully on Monday at her check up we can get rid of that.  It's so big she runs into everything with it.

Hubbies computer broke, and after getting it back from the shop decided he was getting a new one.  His was passed down to the family. Now I have to learn how to do everything all over again on new computer, because our old one was ancient and so different.  Luckily the printers still work on the new one, but the scanner is too old so we'll have to get a new one.  (I use it to scan all my cards)  My other choice is the camera.  Well when I plugged it in the hardware for it didn't download so I'll have to google on how to find it.  So if the pics of my cards aren't too clear today, they were taken on my tablet.

School is winding down.  Track & Field are over. My kids aren't really athletes so they didn't place to move on to Regionals.  But they do enjoy the day, as well as me.  I always help out for the day.  Usually I'm stuck way across the road timing races for the day, but this year I was paired with the grade three teacher. Grade three is when they start track & field so it was really cute watching them.  Wondering when they stopped for snack, and recess.  End of year trips have started.  Right now my daughter is on her way home from Ottawa.  Her grade 7 class has spent three days there touring the Canadian War Museum, Urban Scavenger Hunt, Haunted Walk, tour of the Parliament Buildings, Bank of Canada Currency Museum, Rideau Hall, Canadian Museum of Civilization RCMP Musical Ride Stables, Shopping time at the Byward Market and a mall.  Their days started at 6:15 with a knock on their door and lights out at 10:30. They should sleep all weekend.

And can you believe it, I have completed three cards.  Revealing one at a time.  I had a special request for wedding cards.  A ski theme, because they met skiing.  Well since I have no stamps to use for this I went on to Silhouette to see what I could find.  Bingo, found the perfect shape.  A pair of goggles.  I can enlarge it and use as the card. Simple I say, I've done this before.  NOT.  Nothing I try to do on the computer is simple.  Me and computers just don't get along.  After spending an hour and half trying to weld the centre line I gave up.  Cut out two shapes, putting a fold quarter inch from top of the back and adhering to the front.
I turned out not back, and good enough that she bought it.

Enjoy your day, have to go.  My son is home on a PD Day and is waiting for me to do some dancing with him on Just Dance for the Wii.

How Time Flies

Wow, time just seems to be flying by. It's been so long since I've crafted. From work, kids activities, home renos, and the big one an ipod touch (trying to keep up with the kids).  My daughter had one and I had to get one to figure out what she was doing on it. She's got me hooked on games. It's like a compitition to see who can get to the next level.

The livingroom renos are moving on. The hardwood is almost down. And this week I'm working on painting. Fixing up wall cracks (I hate drywalling), and a corner that wasn't even taped. Priming walls today, and hopefully painting tomorrow.

Update on dog. Her rupture grew over two weeks.  Trying another round of a different antibiotic. Hoping this one works. Good thing, she's got her appetite back.

Keep crafting, I'm still keeping up on everyone.

Checking In

It's been awhile since I've checked in.  Once again the house is in a mess.  Hard to be creative when your furniture is all over the house.  A couple years ago we had a water leak around the chimney, and it marked the ceiling in the living room.  We finally got around to getting someone in to fix it.  But as usual nothing ever goes smoothly.  The ceiling is stucco and runs the length of the house.  The contractor smoothed out the ceiling ending it just past the front door, and entering the dining room.  That was fine. Looks not bad with the two textures.  But when night fell for the first time on the new ceiling so did all the imperfections.  What we thought looked not bad in the daylight, looked like an ocean under lamp light.  Now we have to decide what to do with it.  Meanwhile that is the room with our main satalite receiver that records all our fav shows.  It is the only thing in that room, (besides the stove that can't be moved) because the cables aren't long enough to reach anywhere. The TV is in our bedroom.  We can at least watch DVD's on it.

On top of that, we had to rush the dog to the vets on Monday.  Noticed her licking her butt.  On closer examination, there an extra hole back there.  After an afternoon at the vets.  She had to be sedated in order for them to examine it.  We took her home drowsie on morphine.  What a sad looking girl she was.  We got her home and she wobbled her way downstairs rather quickly to her crate, and crashed.  Well what a treat trying to put the cone on her.  She wanted nothing to do with that.  I'd put it on, she'd claw it off.  This went on several times.  I finally decided it was too big and cut it down.  Well I cut too much off.  So back to the vets this morning to buy another.  This time I measured to make sure.  She's having a hard time navigating the house, the cone ketches on doorways and walls, stopping her up fast.  Hopefully she'll heal fast.  By the way, she has a ruptured anal gland.

Hoping to get back to the swing of things shortly.  Till next time.  Keep crafting.

Beautiful Sunshine

Well the beautiful weather we've been having for the last couple weeks has inspired the color of my card.  Today we were a balming 29C.  And I hear we're in for snow next week.

I actually card lifted this one.  I love the simplicity of Kelley Eubanks cards. She does beautiful work. Her blog is My Front Porch, check it out.

Paper Bead Necklace

Afternoon everyone.  I know it's been awhile since my last post.  We had to dismantle the computer to move it to another room, as we are having our ceiling fixed finally. Back up and running, kind of.  It took three trys to get it to turn on today.  One of these days it's not going to.

One day last week I attempted to make paper beads.  Things went pretty well for a first attempt.  And they didn't take as long as I was expecting.  I had enough beads for a necklace in an afternoon, just sitting and watching TV.  I brushed on some Glossy Accents to protect them.

Strung them together with a little metal bead between each one. And by bed time it was complete.

Here is the finished product.  It goes around the neck like a tie.  With the two tails hanging down.  Not bad for a first attempt.  She wore it to school the next day, and came home with orders from all her friends.
