Doggie Doggie

Before I start I just want to say to my cousin Deric Ruttan, I was watchin you last night on the CCMA's, but what was up with the suit.  You always wear a T-shirt.  Anyway it was a good night even though Deric didn't come home with an award.  And sorry they bumped your proformance, I know you would have been better than some that were on.  Looking forward to the new album in a couple weeks.

Hope everyone has had a great Tuesday.  Me, I worked all day, came home made dinner, helped with homework, kids in bed.  Now I'm relaxing for the evening.  But first I want to share my card with you.

This one was farely simple.  I started with a red notecard.  The tourquise piece in co ordinations, embossed with swirls and sanded.  The puppies are a sticker added to the green.  The ribbon is stapled into place.

MMM Apple Pie

Happy Sunday to everyone.  And to all my friends in the US, I'm thinking about you all today on the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

We had a good first week of school.  Neither kid had alot of homework.  So they are easing in gradually.  Sam helps out in the kindergarten room during school, and at the end of school the teacher had given all the helpers a coupon for free ice cream cone at the parlor downtown.  We didn't use it all summer, so today was a nice sunny warm day we decided to use it.  The parlor is at the end of main street, and close to the Falls.  So we got our ice cream and sat on a bench to eat while watching the traffic.  After we walk over the falls.  They are reconstructing the turbines so the water is redirected around part.  You can see old pillars that you normally couldn't see.

The last week has been a bit cool, especially at night.  With fall, cool weather, comes apple harvest.  What better to make than pies.  My pie was cut from grunge board to give it depth.  The lighter strips were stamped on paper inked and cut out and glued on.  The little apples were cut from  dec. paper.

Schools back

Well we've made it through two days of school with no problems.  Everyone seems to like thier new teachers.  Sam lucked out and has two teachers sharing one of two 7/8 splits.  Grant is in a 5/6.  Worried all summer that he wouldn't get his EA assistance, but thankfully so far their is one in the class for two periods in the morning.  It's just not the one that he's had all along.

My beef for today.  The kids need two pairs of shoes for school.  One indoor, one outdoor.  Grant had a pair of perfectly good skateboard shoes to be used for outdoor, so we just had to buy him new indoor.  He preferrs the flat skateboard shoes so that is what we got him for his indoor shoes, which also have to be used for gym.  A classroom note comes home today saying that they are not allowed to wear skateboard shoes in the gym.  So it's off to Walmart after supper to get yet another pair of shoes.

Back to school

Good morning everyone.  Hope you had a glorious Labor Day Weekend.  Ours was spent working on the house.  Drywall, sand, drywall, sand.  I hate mudding. But today is a joy.  Peace and quiet.  The return to school.  I can sit and work on the computer without being interupted.  Even took the day off so I could be by myself.  Sometimes you just need a you day.  Nobody chattering in your ear.  He's really cute, but you can only listen for so long then you start tuning out.

Today card was made for my aunty.  A pretty bouquet for her birthday, colored with markers, not always my choice, but I wanted the flowers nice and bold.  I used stickles to dot around the outside of the image.  And place some jewels on the flowers to give them a sparkle.  The sentiment is a silver sticker that I colored with purple marker.

Just relaxing

Here we are at the start of a long weekend, and the end to summer.  Kids are off to school on Tuesday.  We have been out shopping for all their school supplies, and new clothes.  Grant has grown so much this summer, up two sizes. And if Sam's feet don't  stop growing she'll be waring canoes on her feet.  Last year she was the same size as me, this year she's up a size.
Last night I made this card for my sister in-law.  Have to get it in the mail because her birthday was three days ago.  I have a hard time getting cards mailed on time.  The image was stamped with versa mark and brushed with Pearl Ex.  The image really  shimmers, love that stuff, but have to find what to seal it with.  If anyone has any suggestions.  I sealed this one with hair spray, but it will yellow over time.

congratulations

Hello fellow bloggers.  Hope everyone is having a great weekend.  All of you in the United States affected by the huricane, hoping everyone made it through OK. I was home today, really nice for the whole family to be here.  No work, no play dates, no sleepovers.

Not much work was done on the house this week as we both returned to work.  Little bits in the evenings.  The last wall I went to paint, all the old paint peeled off.  Had to remud it today to smooth it back out.

Last night I was able to finish this card.  I've had the flowers punched for a while just waiting for me.  I saw this card on docrafts awhile ago.  You cut little slits in the top and bottom of the card, and then weave thread in them up and down in any pattern.  I cut double the flowers, placing a glue dot on one, placing it under a thread then placing another on top aligning the two.  Then placing a jewel on each, as well as three on the top right corner.  The sentiment is a sticker.

Where has the time gone!!!

OMG!  It's been so long since my last post.  We have been busy distroying the house, but it will look great in the end.  I have had no time for crafting.  I had started this LO for Scrap it Girl.  A new challenge site, that is back to the basics.  No kits, no sketchs, no digi images, just plane and simple.  This is what I came up with,  too late for the challenge, but I had to share.

Hopefully it won't be long to my next post.  Computer poblems.  Couldn't get it turned on tonight.  Hubby kicked it that did the trick.  So I've spent the evening copy my stuff to an external hard drive.

If you like MESS, this is for you

Wow, what an awesome product.  I picked up some Pearl Ex for a project I'd seen. Last night I played with it stamping on cards.  You use versa mark to stamp, then take a paint brush and dip it in the powder dropping it on the image, then brush it around to stick on the image.  It doesn't show up very well in the photo, but it really shines and has a shimmer to the color.  I thought I made a mess with glitter, but I had more of this on me, the table, the chair.  Now I have to find a good sealant for it, because it rubs off. So if anyone has a favorite product, please let me know.  In the video I've seen they suggest hair spray, but that yellows over time, and I found it still rubs off.

Last week we started house wreckovations as my dear hubby calls them.  This is the laundry room, just a little closet on the main floor.  Under the washer & dryer it was just plywood.  The nice flooring there is the hallway, that is now gone, and will be replaced with hardwood.
New floor in the laundry room.  It's called Allure, a floating floor.  The tiles are stuck together, but it is not stuck to the floor.
Todays job is to hang the new doors that are off the hallway, finish putting down the sub floor, paint the walls, then we can attempt the hardwood floor.

Tonight we get rid of the kids.  My dad is taking them for a sleep over, so DH & I can celebrate our 16th anniversary.

Have a great day everyone.

You Make MY Heart Bloom

Happy Thursday to everyone out there in blog land.  It has been so great on our holidays.  No plans to go away this year.  Just a day trip to Wonderland next week.  The kids with love it.  Right now I'm busy painting the laundy room.  Two years ago when we renoed the bathroom we bought hardwood flooring for the main level. We are just getting it down now.  Will post pics when I get them off the camera.

Last night I was able to sit and make a card after kids were settled in.  Using some new patterned paper I picked up not long ago.  The image was one I had colored and sitting on my desk just waiting to be used.  And the sentiment goes with it so well.  The butterfly is actually two glued together so the wings stand up, but in the scanner they squish down.
