End of School

Evening everyone.  Here we are with the first day of the long weekend almost over.  Unfortunately I have to work the entire thing.  But maybe the next one.

Here is the card I made for Grant's teacher.  Unfortunately she is leaving the school this year.  I am so glad that both kids were able to have her as a teacher.

Poor Grant wasn't even able to spend the last day with her.  I sent him on the bus for the first time since his accident.  When he arrived at school I received a phone call saying he was sick and had to go home.  Poor little fellow ended up with the flu.  Passing it on to his dad the next day. Now Sam has a cold.  I'm sure that will go around the house.

Well recently we have become a very electronic family.  We've always had a couple PC's, a couple laptops, DS's, I-pods. The phones we had were just little flip phone that was only used for calls and the occasional text.  For Sam's graduation we wanted to get her a phone.  We ended up with all three of us getting Blackberry Z10.  That posed a problem when Grant went away for the weekend and we had no phone to send with him.(not sending a new smartphone to a cottage with a 12 year old) I ended up buying another flip phone for him to use.  Last week the Source had Kobo mini's on half price.  I already had one, but now the whole family has their own.  Yesterday Grant purchased the newest DS3D with his allowance money.  OMG, what did we do before all these electronics.

happy graduate

Good afternoon everyone.  Well it's official.  My baby girl is a grade 8 graduate.  Seems like yesterday I was putting a small little girl onto the big school bus.  Where does the time go?  Well Tuesday was a long day.  Spending the afternoon at the spa/salon getting my little girl beautiful.  We started with her nails done in a very deep purple.  Then it was a little bit of make up.  (boy does she look grown up)  Then it was next door to the salon for her hair.  Lianne knows exactly what she likes, and did a great job on her hair.  There was so much hair spray it must have added 1/2 lb to her.  Her dress was ordered from the UK.  Since we couldn't find one she liked on our shopping excurtion.  Since she doesn't wear heels we settled on a pair of black leather flat boots.  With the whole outfit put together she was a stunner.  I can't believe how much she has grown up in the last year.

Beautiful Peonies

Morning fellow bloggers. Still no cards to share, but I will tomorrow. I'm on my way down to do a retirement card for Grants teacher. Baring no interuptions. Had to drive the little guy to s bool this morning because the bus ride is too rough on his shoulder. He broke his color bone last week in a little bicycle accident. I ended up staying at the school to watch a music assembly, but have to go back at lunch to get him. Poor thing can't do anything. Even using the other arm pulls on it, so he's pretty much useless. Thanks to the lazy boy couch he can sleep at night, don't know how we would manage just with his bed. Not being able to lay down because there is no way to get back up. Rolling onto either side is out. But we'll manage. Here's hoping it heals fast.

On a cheerier note. So excited about tomorrow. It's Samantha's graduation from grade 8. I have booked her nail, makeup, and hair appointments for the day, so she won't have to go to school. Then Wednesday is their last day. Can't believe summer vacation is here already.

Baby Piggies

Well it's been a while since my last post. I have been busy with life. No card make has been done in months. I'm getting the itch to sit at my craft table and create.

For the last three days I have been at a camp with my daughters grade 8 class on their end of year trip. There are two grade 7/8 classes at our school, both teachers are male. So females were needed to sleep in the girls dorm. The housing was a two storey building, boys were on the top floor and girls on the main. There were 4 students in each room sharing bunks, shower and toilet. What a great three days the kids had. All getting along so well together, helping each other in all the activities they did.

The first day consisted of candle making, kaiaking, camp fire and astronomy. Day two was packed with activity. Archery, mountain biking, high ropes, capture the flag and movie night. Today was a little layed back with clean up and a few games. Free time for some volley ball. The ecology game where they had a blast.

Big surprise for us when we got home, which if my phone hadn't crapped out on me today I would have known that our guinea pig had her babies last night. She was so big when we left. My daughter says she looks like a table she was so wide. Not fitting in her house. Sometimes caring it on her back like a turtle shell.

It's a funny story with our pigs. My daughter got a male guinea pig. Hubbie liked it so we went and got him one. When we got Jo we were told it was a male. So he was brought home and put in the cage with Caz. I raised pigs when I was younger, so on further inspection after we had him a while I discovered that Jo was a she not a he. So she got her own cage. She grew fatter and fatter. Huge would be the word. Well, through the night she had her babies. Having four but only three survived. Pretty good for being so young and a first litter. They are so cute. And not even 24 hours old and they are eating lettuce.

happy weekend
