Update on my shoulder. Not much has changed. The physiotherapist thinks I have gone from a strain to a tear. Physio was not working and the pain was gettig worse so I had to stop till I see another doctor. Tomorrow the wait is over. Sure hope he has encouraging news.

I spent the last two nights working on a card, using a new stamp set. The only card magazines I can purchase in our town are ones from the UK. They always come with stamp and die sets. Great value. The latest one I purchased had an embossing folder, stamp set and dies of a bookshelf and books. It was so much fun playing with this set.

I started out with the embossing folder on white paper and using distress inks to add color. Using the book dies in multiple colors and adding them to the book shelves. The cat was stamped, colored and die cut. The flowers and picture frame were stamped, colored and fussy cut. Using foam tape to give them dimension. The panel was mounted on a dark purple mat and white card base.
Since I strained my rotator cuff just before Christmas I have been unable to use my arm. Two weekends I thought just holding the ruler was ok, but boy was I wrong. So lesson learned, listen to the therapist when she says don't use it.

I thought I would share with you the layout of my weekly calendar.

happy crafting

dee

It's a brand new start. I have s number of things I would like to accomplish this year. The first being cardmaking. Christmas passed for the second year were I have purchased cards to send to friends and family. While half finished cards lay on my desk.
A few months ago I discovered crystals. There are so many pretty ones. I'm having fun learning what each crystal does. Hoping to get out to do some digging this spring. My Christmas gift will come in handy to pretty up the crystals. You guessed it, I got a rock tumbler. My first attempt has been tumbling for 2 dsys. I opened it up to have a look today. All the sharp edges are smoothing, so I put it on for one more day. Then we will be onto grit #2.

Lastly I'd like to share a page from my bullet journal. I spent last year figuring out what I wanted to track, and how I wanted my weekly calendar to look. I've got it all figured out and am enjoying setting up my 2020 bullet journal.

I have been sitting on this card for a month. It took me a week to sit down and create. I knew exactly how I wanted it to look but just couldn't sit down to do it. You see it was made for a very dear friend and co-worker who lost her husband suddenly.

I embossed onto a piece of colored cardstock. Colored the bird, darkened around the edge, and added the sentiment.

I will be back soon. Our Walmart is getting new craft supplies in and I found alcohol inks. So much fun.
Again it has been awhile since I've posted. But this time I have been crafting. I have found three cards that need to be posted. I'm even entering a challenge with this one.

The stamp set was from Creative Stamping Magazine. I just fell in love with the large arm chair, all the dogs, cats, bunny, and fish where just a bonus.

I started by masking the area where the carrots are. Stamped and colored the carrots. I then stamped the bunny and grass, and colored. I masked strip with the carrots and ink blended the blue around the edge of the card. Added the sentiment and some liquid pearls.

What a day at work. We are six days away from inventory and the whole staff is getting cranky. I've been told to only do crutial parts of my job till after inventory. I get to work out on the floor straighten up the store and making sure everything is where it needs to be. Today I was in automotive today, and tomorrow I get to play in to toy department.

My card I have to share has been hanging around for awhile. I love this tea stamp set. I have a collection of tea pots displayed on the top of my kitchen cupboard. So when I saw this set with a magazine I just had to have it. I colored my card with my favorite medium, pencil crayons. This card is a one-layer, so I was got to play with masking. When finished I colored lightly around the image and used gamsol to blend it out.
This post is a couple days late, as I have been having an issue with Blogger. But I think I have it working again. I should have tried shutting my tablet down two days ago.

Today was a crazy day at work. We had visitors from Head Office for their yearly visit. It's always hectic awaiting their arrival. Making sure everything is in good order. They came, they toured, and they left. We had a really good review. So hopefully tomorrow is back to normal. As normal as it can be.

I did manage to clean up my desk, kind of. The last couple stamp sets that I used had not been put into my organizers. So that is what I have been working on.

I have a mini binder where I stamp all my stamps. That way when I'm looking for an image I have one binder to look through. The stamps are placed in an E-Z Mount container.

I have a card to share next time. Untill then

It has been a long time again since I last posted. But as you can see from the state of my desk I cannot get to it. Once again it is piled high. Last week I received a package and haven't even played with anything yet. So today is clean up day.

The last couple of weeks our town has been under a flood emergency. A lot of rural roads are flooded and closed. There are many people evacuated from their homes. Luckily we are not one of them. We live on the opposite side of the road from the river, and up on a hill. If the water reaches us we are in big trouble. Although the road further down from us is flooded. The disadvantage a building next to a water way.

A week ago my sister-in-law passed away. It has been a sad time. It makes you stop and think how shorts life really is. Although Lizzie is at rest now as she suffered from MS. But, it only leaves my husband and one sister from his family.

So let's see if I can get this mess cleared up, and maybe get back to crafting. Oh how I miss sitting down here at my desk.

Made it home safely yesterday. Very happy to see my family. Not used to being away from them that long. Now it's back to the real world. Luandry , house cleaning, making meals and back to work on Monday.
Before I get to my card I would like to share with you my day. When I started my position as Compliance Associate five months ago I have been dreading this day. They told me I would need to take a Health & Safety Core Training. This consists of five days of training in the city. I live in a small town where I was born and raised. Nice country setting just outside of town. I managed to miss the first date, but then the next training session came up. No avoiding it.

So after a few nights of unsettled sleep, the day arrived to go. The first part of the journey was fine. Straight to visit my daughter which I have driven several times. But then the butterflies started again, when I was driving new territory. But 20 minutes later and very proud of myself I arrived at my motel. Checked myself in and waited for my roommate to arrive.

Another high five to myself, when she arrived I drove us to Walmart to get some groceries. Ok, that wasn't too bad it was on the same street as the motel. (So is the Michael's that I will be visiting later this week)

Now if you are still with me, here is a card I forgot to post. This is the last card using this floral set for awhile.

I stamped the images all over the background and colored with prisma pencils. I then took a rectangular die and cut the centre out. I placed fun foam behind it to give it dimension. Lastly is used perfect pearls on the centres of the flowers.
It has been another snowy weekend. Light snow for most of the last two days, but not a whole lot of accumilation. Nothing like last Monday.

Yesterday I finally die cut the flowers I had colored.

I first started with a stencil and two colors of distress inks. The images were colored with prisma pencils. I then die cut with the matching dies, and arranged them ontop of my distressing. The sentiment was stamped on a thin piece of white cardstock. I lined one end with the edge of the card and flagged the other end. Adding it to my card with foam adhesive. I used liquid pearls for the centre of the yellow card.

It's been so long since I've actually finished a card in time for the challenge. I am entering this one in Freshly Made Sketches - 377

Hope everyone is enjoying their Family Day. I am enjoying my quiet time right now. Hubbie and son are taking advantage of the holiday to sleep in. Doesn't help that they are both sick.

Sometime this afternoon we have to take some snow off the roof. This week we had three blizzards blow through. Big dump of snow. Glad it's back to sunny skies. Although it could be a little warmer.

I recently watched a video from Simon at Inklipse. He was testing life hacks. The one with the magnet mounted in the frame caught my eye. It is used for holding your dies in one safe place while die cutting. So off to the local Walmart store for supplies. In the craft isle I came across small magnetic sheets, and a plane wooden frame. Small but I usually don't have that many dies out a time.

Here are all my supplies.

I prepared the wood with a coat of white gesso. Tore up some paper I had on my desk from another project and got to work glueing. What a sticky mess I had. The medium gloss gel I used worked for the job, but I think I would use something else next time. It was just like glue and I was sticking to everything. But in the end it turned out great. I happy with the end result.

Thanks Simon for all the time you put into making your videos. I enjoy watching your work. Your Life Hacks videos are very informative. I have gotten more than one idea from them. Good luck on your new line you have just launched.
Back to the work week. Hope everyone had a productive weekend. It was another chilly one here in Muskoka. Good to stay in on those cold ones.

I enjoyed coloring with the white pencil on black cardstock. I tried the same technique on kraft paper. Using a brown pencil to color my flowers. I think I might even like this one better than the black and white one.

After stamping a random background pattern I colored it with a brown prisma pencil. When it was finished I used a rectangle die to cut a frame out about a 1/4 inch from the edge. I mounted the frame on dimension tape and the rest of the card flat on a white card base. Looking at it now, I think it needs a few sequins added to it.
Hope this finds everyone warm. We are in a deep freeze. It started on the weekend. -20 was the high during the day. The wind made it even colder. This morning the school buses were cancelled because of the cold. It was -28 when I left for work.

So with all this cold I've been thinking about spring, and coloring flowers. With the start of a new year comes new things. I have a drawer full of new stamps, embossing folders, dies. I will be using it all, starting with this new stamp set and dies.

For this one I stamped the background with white ink on a black background. I then colored with a white prisma pencil. Trimmed a bit off the edges, and mounted it on a white cardbase. I added a small sentiment and mounted it with foam tape.
Home for a quick lunch. I actually feel that I am accomplishilng something at work today. The first time all week. Great way to wrap up the week.

Last night I was playing with a new stamp. Stamping it out to cover the background. Now I can color them. One I did for to use the matching dies to cut out. I will share when finished.

Today I want to share the second card from last weekend. This one I colored the flowers purple. I think this one is my favorite. I love the purple with the dark grey background.
Home from work for lunch. It's so nice to live close enough to go home on my lunch hour. Just gives you a much needed break away.

Over the weekend I pulled out an old stamp and had some fun with it. When I originally stamped it I was thinking a one layer card. So I stamped it right onto the card base. Well I didn't eyeball it and didn't get it quite in the centre. I colored the image and then decided to color with a dark grey all around the image. When this was done I decided to cut it out, layer a color cardstock to match the flowers, then mount it onto a card base.

On this one I layed a piece of orange burlap to match the flowers.
Hope you all had a Happy New Year. My day was spent relaxing in my jammies, working on my bullet journal. I'm so enjoying creating my own calender. All the trackers to try to keep me in line.
The weekend is here. The whole family is still together for another week. It will be sad next weekend when I have to take my daughter back to school.

Tonight I want to share the January calender I created. It was made with two different stencils. I taped down the birch tree stencil and colored with distress inks to make the sky. I layed the cloud stencil right over top to make the clouds. After removing the stencils I colored the trees with prisma pencils.
I have been working on my bullet journal while home. I'll share some of my pages soon.

For now I wanted to share the card I created for all the managers and back office associates that I work with. Each one was done with different pattern paper. I found 6x6 pads at Micheal's. Christmas themes, one in pink colors and one in blue colors.

Hope you had a an amazing day as I did. Having my daughter home from college is always wonderful. We saved all the Christmas preparations untilsshe came home. We all decorate the tree, and her and I spend a day making cookies.

I'm finally starting to get my mojo back. I'm sharing just some of the Christmas tags I made for us. Tomorrow I will share the card I created for associates at work.

Enjoy your boxing day. And happy crafting.

Here I sit i my jammies at 9pm. Relaxing, and wishing we didn't have to return my daughter back to college today. She has been home for reading week. We had a great week. Last night she did a face paint on me for one of her assignments. She had to draw a flower then recreate it on a face. I think she did a great job.

She's having a great year so far. Struggling with hair a bit, but all her makeup classes are good. Her course is 'makeup for media'. Next year is year she us looking forward to if she can get into it. Third year is more of what she's after. Prosthetics and props.

I know I'm a couple days late, but I hope everyone had a good weekend. I finally had a weekend doing what I want. Saturday was spent driving to the city to bring my daughter home for her reading week. We did some shopping on the way home at Spirit for Halloween costumes. Sam also needed some costume parts for a photo shoot assignment at college. Saturday night we spent catching up on TV shows on the PVR.

Sunday was great to sleep in. Laze around in the morning with tea and card videos. The afternoon was spent playing with some new products. Seems like I've been purchasing alot of product and not using it. The most recent is Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powder. Teal Wash and Lava Red are the two I purchased to try.

Grab a mug of your favorite beverage, this is a long one.

I started out with my journal, container of water, paint brush, spray bottle of water and of course pixie powder. I started by spreading water all over the page. Then shaking the powder on randomly.

I continued to shake and spray with the water bottle. Tilting the page to get some movement with the colors.

Next I taped two pieces of watercolor paper to the back of a clipboard, and repeated my pocess. Loving the look. Tie die.

Another new product is my new Cathy Allan's Positio It 2. I stamped this lovely lily stamp, yet another new product that came in Cardmaking & Paper Crafts. This is from a set by Jennifer Ellory called Hummingbird Sympathy. With this one I wet the area I wanted to paint in, sprinkled the powder, and used a wet paintbrush to paint it in the area.

I tried a second version with the stamp. I first wet the area that I wanted the stamp in. Then I sprinkled the powder, trying to get the colors to coordinate with the stamp. Once it was dry I stamped my image with black ink.

Now the challenge to make cards with these backgrounds. Be back soon.
