Love Getting Mail

Good evening everyone.  It feels so good to be creating again.  The last week and half has been pretty quiet.  The afternoon of my birthday I sprained my knee walking up a couple steps bringing the dog in the house.  After spending the evening in pain, I woke up the next day feeling not bad.  Until I got to work.  My work requires me to be on my feet for 8 hours walking up and down infront of the checkouts.  Thankfully I only had a 5 hour and amazingly I made it all the way through my shift.  After retreiving the car from the garage after getting snow tires on I headed to the hospital.  Outcome was a spained knee with possible torn legaments.  Recovery is 4-6 weeks, staying off it and using crutches for a week.  I made it the week, spending it on the couch getting caught up on TV and cardmaking utube videos.  This week I have made it through 2 days of modified work, and 2 days off.  Feeling alot better.  Tomorrow I'm off to physio before work.

I have been watching the mail for packages, the best one coming yesterday.  My mini MISTI has arrived.  Hubbie needed another card for work, making it the perfect time to try it out.  Things went so well I made multiples of 2 different style of cards.  Making five cards in all.  The misti wasn't the only new thing, I got to try out a layering stamp for the first time.  I love it.  I will be purchasing more of those.

My mini MISTI with a project in it.

Just love how the flowers turned out.

Computer Space Coming Along

Good evening everyone.  Just to update you on my space.  Still organizing.  Yesterday I managed to get a start on my file cabinet. It has been ignored for a very long time.  Everything gets piled on the kitchen cupboard, and when the pile gets too high it gets moved to the basement.  Another day and that will be all straightened out.

My craft supplies are coming slowly.  Now that the computer area is close to being done I have a few more cupboard spaces.

Snow Snow Go Away

Morning everyone.  Well I guess it's time I get my snowtires put on.  Yesterday was the first snowfall of the season.  Now the rain they are calling for tomorrow will take it all away, it will be coming eventually.  It was a bit of a slippery drive home yesterday.

The morning sun does make it look pretty on the trees.

I have a birthday card to share that I made my dad way back in June.

I partially stamped a graph background stamp and splattered with ink.  I then took some Tim Holtz metal gears and glued them on and stamped the happy birthday.  I layered this panel onto a brown cardstock and them onto a beige card.

I'm off today and I think I'm going to putter in my little area.  I have neglected putting new stamps away as I get them for the last year.  So this week I have been organizing them.  I keep all my stamps in binders on transparency film, stamping the image on white cardstock that fits behind it so you can see the image.  I also have a little 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 binder with all my stamped images in. I'm going to do one of these for my die cuts as well.

For Baby Girl Butler

Morning everyone.  I really have to get back into the swing of things.  It's coming slowing.  My actual work area is now finished.

There is Maxwell, patiently waiting.  I am slowly finding a home for everything.  I find it's alot of trial and error.  Find it a home, move it here, change how it's being stored, move it over there.  It's a slow process.  You can see to the left that the computer area is coming along as well.  We put a big push on it because we are now into Fall Season and it's cooler and rainy.  We do all the cutting outside because it makes such a mess.  So the bulk of it has to be done before the snow.

Back to my projects.  A couple of nights ago I attended a baby shower.  It's been forever since I've been to one.  Felt a little out of place because I didn't know very many attending.  The proud parents to be are friends of ours.  Hubbie plays on-line gaming with him.  So I knew the couple, his parents, and her sister and brother in-law.  It actually turned out to be a huge surprise for the couple.  She is from England, which is where all here family is.  Their wedding was actually in England and we traveled over for it.  The host of the party arranged for the sister and brother in-law and their little guy to come over for the shower.  It was so good to see them.  Anyway, I have been working on this adorable little sweater set.

Love the colors.  The body of it is sooo full, bottom row has around 400 stitches.  And of course I managed to complete a card to go with it.

I love this little hedgehog image from Penny Black.  The little safety pins on the card base are in the same set.  I stamped them on with versa mark and added flamingo pink pearl ex to give them sparkle and color.

Hope everyone has a great day.  I'm off to work after having 4 days off.

Not So Bad

Evening blogland.  I've had a quiet day.  Me and Maxwell snuggling in my chair.  Which is unsual because he doesn't snuggle for that long.  He did know something was different because he kept sniffing my face.

Today was the day at the dentist that I have been dreading for about a year.  A piece broke off my tooth (lower right second from back) I think from a black ball.  After rushing into the dentist to have it checked, I've tried to ignore it.  But no more, they finally booked my appointment. Today started the process for an implant.  The tooth was pulled and a bone reconstrution was started.  Now a few check ups to keep an eye on it, and the process will continue in or around March.  It really wasn't as bad as I was imagining.

This past weekend was Thanksgiving here in Canada.  As I worked all weekend, I did manage to cook my turkey on Monday, as the store was closed.  We made it a lazy day, taking a break from construction.  I took the opportunity to put a few of my supplies back on the desk top.  (It was cleared once again to paint the back wall)  I came across my art journal and decided to try my hand at a fall scene.  The weather has certainly changed here. Our warm weather is gone, some evenings have a bit of a chill even frost in the mornings, and  cooler days were a jacket is required.

I started by painting my page with white gesso.  Then coloring the background with some pearlescent watercolors.  The grasses in the front were stamped with distress ink, as well as the trees.  The trees and leaves were colored with pencil crayons.

Ooops That's Mine

Morning blog peeps.  I hope the sun is shining where you are. Here fall has hit. We are into grey dull days.  Today it looks as if it will rain.  The trees are changing color and starting to fall.

Well with my new work area coming together I just had to order some new supplies to go in it.  Don't tell hubbie. According to him I don't need any more, as I'm having a hard time fitting what I have into my new space.  So while browsing the daily Blitsy email I came across some Deep Red stamps I just had to have.  Now the arrival of my stamps was a bit funny.  When school started we had ordered a t-shirt and sweat shirt for my son on-line.  So when this small package showed up in the mailbox I thought it felt like a t-shirt inside.  When I arrived home with the package I toss it to my son. Next thing he's bringing the package back to me saying "very funny, what do I do with these".  Although I missed the excitement of ripping that package open, the quickened heart rate was still there to excitedly look over my new purchase.

Now to find the time to sit and use these.  Right now we are having a baby boom.  I just have the bonnet to make on the outfit I'm working on now.  Hubbie came home the other day to inform me of three more babies from his office.  Two of them are daughters of one of his coworkers. A couple years ago they had their first chils within a month of each other.  They have done it again.  The other one is a coworker. Along with trying to finish a blanket for my son for Christmas.

Must scoot for now.  I have a busy day.  The drywall is being finished as we work on each area.  Now that we have started on my computer area, and started fitting in shelving and counter top, it is a little longer than we had first planned.  So there is one drywall seam by the window that needs to be finished.  Taped it yesterday, second mud coat will go today.  Hubbie painted that area, so it's up to me to paint wall behind my new work space.  House needs cleaned, and we have to go to the school tonight for Acheivement night.  This is the third year Samantha has received Honor Roll, but we are so proud of our boy for making Honor Roll for his grade 9 year.  I told him the other day that I knew he could do it, but now I expect it every year now. He just laughed at me.

bye for now

Happy Birthday Uncle B

Good evening blog friends. Here we are at the end of a long weekend, and the end of my two weeks holidays.  Well almost, I have one more quiet day at home.  Kids go back to school, and hubbie is back to work.  It's just me and Max.

Tonight I had to try out my new workspace.  After clearing room (still organizing), I was able to complete a card.  This is the first scene I've tackled.  Masking and inking.  My truck was stamped on a separate piece of white, colored and fancy cut.  Attaching with foam adhesive.

Tomorrow I will deliver it to my uncle Bruce.  His birthday is accually Wednesday, but I have to work.  So I have to take my aunt out tomorrow to visit him.  He now lives in a nursing home, after having a stroke several years ago.  I'm such a bad neice, I have been out for months to visit.  Life seems so busy.

YAH WORK SPACE

Good morning blog friends.  I have waited so long for this day.  My craft space has moved all over the basement.  It's been a desk, then to a folding table.  Moving everytime we do work on the basement.  For a week now we have spent every day of our holidays measuring, cutting, drywalling, painting.  There is still work to be done but it's to a useable point. Now comes the hard part of trying to squeeze all my supplies into my little area.

I have the best hubbie for spending his holidays constructing my work area.

My Thoughts Are With You

Good evening dear blog friends.  Here I am almost finished my third day of  holidays.  Thinking my first day off would be relaxing and unwinding from work.  Boy was I wrong.  Hubbie had already been off for two days.   It was right into basement reno's.  Which is great because it is my craft space.  So two days of drywalling (which is the worst job ever).  Today was a bit of a down day, so I took this time to make a couple needed cards.

This sympathy card was made for a friend whose father passed away yesterday.  My card is very simple, and card lifted to get me started once again.  Although until all my supplies are close at hand not alot will get done.

Off to do a bit of crocheting before bed.  Another baby sweater to do.

Quilting Background

Good evening dear bloggers, or good morning since it's past midnight when I finally have time to sit and write this.  How did my life get so busy that I don't have time to do the fun things.  Last week when I was looking through some posts I came across one on a quilting background.  Last night when I was organizing some  of my craft supplies I pulled out my journal and inks and gave it a go.  Really easy, I think it may be something I could use.  Here is my first attempt.

Here's hoping Mr Maxwell sleeps through the night.  He was neutered a couple of days ago.  He doesn't really try to lick during the day, but we didn't want to the chance at night so we put a cone on him.  He doesn't like it at all.  Just hangs his head and drools.  Last night was the second night.  He was fine till 4am, that was when I heard him wining.  After that it was about every half to one hour, didn't  get much sleep.  Tonight he is in a nice clean crate (had to wash his bed, it was wet from drool), cone free.  Hope he's a good boy.  Off to bed, work in the morning.

Meet Maxwell

Morning everyone.  As I sat here trying to organize things on my tablet I came across pics of Maxwell that I had taken a few months ago.  He is what occupies my time.  No crafting has gotten done.  With tennis elbow, and a craft area that I just don't feel creative in.  I can't even manage to start organizing my stash.  I think I need the actual space completed to get the feel for it.  That has been talk of working on it again.  Until then, I haves Maxwell.

This is Maxwell.  An Australian Shepherd. He is 11 months, and a very busy boy.  But he gets me out walking when I would normally put it off.  This morning we have already been for walk and played frizbee out in the yard to give him some run time.  I have completed Level 1 & 2 Obedience with him.  And we have two weeks left in Rally for beginners.  Agility was the goal for him, but I'm having fun with the rally.  I've even managed to print off the signs, laminated them, and cut the pots to make a course for the back yard.

Here he is waiting to try our first course at home.  He did really well.

Off to get ready for work.  Looking forward to my day off tomorrow.  Hoping sunny skies, no rain.

Saying Good Bye

Good afternoon everyone.  I managed to spend a bit of time this morning at my craft table. Needing to make a sympathy card for a former co-worker.  Rob was from my A&P/Metro days.  He and his wife both worked there.  Rob retired two and a half years ago when I left, and Sue stayed on, finally leaving the first of the year when they changed the store to a Food Basics.  Alot of good memories.  So miss all the staff.  Most of them had been with the company since it was Dominion, so long ago now.

Had to go pick up my daughter from school at lunch.  Another bug making it's way aroung the school. We're just sittin relaxing watching The Librarians before I have to go to work.  Another late night.

Hello Baby

Wow, I can't believe it was January when I last posted.  How the time just flies by.  February was spent getting my daughter ready for her trip to France on the March Break.  She had a wonderful 10 days.  And believe it or not this momma actually survived without her baby girl.  Messaging with her everyday helped.  It was alot of firsts for my little girl.  First trip away without us, first plane ride.  The family she stayed with were great.  We had already met Alice, as she was over here the end of October.  Her english was pretty good, so we didn't have a really hard time communicating with her.  I was worried about Sam going there and how she would make out.  But Alice's father was very fluent in english so he helped Sam alot.  But enough of the chit chat, lets get onto why I'm posting.

About two months ago a girl at work found out she was pregnant.  So of course I started crotching right away.  Well, I really had to work fast because the week after she found out her great news was her first ultra sound.  Only to find out that she had two weeks to delivery.  That was it, she was done work and rushing to prepare for baby.

I managed to finish (but not before baby was born) a sweater and blanket.

I am very proud to be working at Walmart.  As always the staff is there to help out.  Within the two weeks a pot luck and a lunch had been arranged.  The donations were all collected for Vic.  And as always Walmart matches the donation.  How sweet is that.

Here is the card I made.  It felt so good to sit at my desk and finish a card.  I am finding it very hard to get back down to my craft area and get anything completed.

One last thing.  My thoughts today have been for all the people from Fort McMurray.  The devastating fires have forced the evacuation of the entire town. Learning last night that family members were packing up and heading out.  To find out this morning they were safe.  Such great news to wake up to. I just could not image having to go through that.  My thoughts and prayers are with the entire town. Be safe.

Organizing Buttons

Good evening everyone.  It's been so long since I've completed a card that I'm starting to go through withdrawl.  I've been lurking card sites the past couple weeks, just itching to do some coloring and glueing.  My supplies are getting pretty lonely.  The Christmas tree was in my craft space (where my new craft area will be someday), so when we took it down I decided to make a makeshift counter.  Using the top of an old computer desk we tore apart, set on two upright draw units, filled with crating supplies.  Because storage space will be limited I have to really condense my mess.  So tonights project is reorganizing my button stash out of the nice jam jars, into a compact divided unit.

Well, back to work.  Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all my blog friends, near and far.  I have had such a busy year.  My new job is taking up 4-5 days a week.  Cutting down on my craft time a whole lot.  I have managed to make a crocheted blanket for my daughter for Christmas.  She once told me not to make anything for her, but once I saw the Tardis blanket I knew she would like it.  And I was right.  We did have a great Christmas.  I love days when all four of us are home.  Even if we aren't doing things together we are still in the house together.

New years was  a little more relaxing.  I had three days off. Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow.  Today hubbie and I went for a snowshoe.  We both got new snowshoes for Christmas, but since we had a green Christmas we were unable to use them till this week.  It started snowing a few days ago, and now it doesn't know to stop.  It was a short trek through our trail in the bush.  The puppy (Maxwell) came with us.  He loves to play in the snow, running off the trail into the deep snow through the trees.  When we got back to the house Max was covered in big snowballs.  He wasn't impressed when I pulled them off.  And even less impressed when he went into his crate to dry off.

I'm signing off now.  Watching a couple more episodes of the marathon of The Big Bang.  We have been watching it for days.
