10th Annual Langford Cemetary Heritage Day

Good evening everyone.  It has been a wonderful Sunday.  I don't get many as I work every weekend.  But as the end of the month falls on a weekend I was able to spend the day with my family.  I was also able to visit with many friends and family at the annual Heritage Day at the cemetery.  It is the only cemetery in town that is still run by the community.  Once a year we have a cleaning bee, were everyone gathers for a morning to rake, pick up fallen branches and just tidey.  The grass is kept cut by a neighbour.  The whole thing is run on donations, and community involvement.

This week our little tractor went in to have a bucket put on.  The yard is not safe now.  Today it took the whole family to put the mower deck back on.  It takes literally two minutes to take the bucket off, and an hour to get the mower deck on.  But now our grass is cut.

My card tonight was made special for a good friend.  She had hernia surgery this week. I got inky with this one.  Playing with my distress inks is one of my favorite techniques.

Dancing in the Tulips

Good evening everyone.  What a great two days I have had, and tomorrow will make three.  I have actually managed to finish a card and make one.  I've gone for a walk two days in a row.  I've done a couple loads of laundry, but pretty much ignored the rest of the house work.  So I guess tomorrow is a cleaning day.
This card started out a big old boo boo.  When I scored it to fold in half I somehow scored off centre.  So when I folded the edges didn't line up.  But do not fear, my creative juices were working overtime.  With the card open I stamped with a little tulip stamp three times down the right edge. I then placed a piece of vellum over the stamped image and closed the card. This was so I could see where the image was stamped. From here I restamped the tulip lining up over the image already there.  The image is now complete when the card is closed.  The frame on the front was done using a die cut, placing a rubber mat in so that it embossed and didn't cut through.  Before lifting the die off I inked around and the inside.  I then stamped my image.  All images were colored with Spectrum Noir blendable pencils. The sentiment is an outline sticker in silver.

Another Try at Doodling

Morning blogland.  How did life get so busy?  It just seems that I have no time for crafting anymore.  I always seem to be on the go.  When I'm not working it seems that I'm always running the roads.  Errands in town, appointments, running kids around, driving a half hour to pick up crickets.  That's one disadvantage of a small town.  Availability of things.  Now don't get me wrong, I love our town.  It's been a great place to raise our kids.  But when it comes to shopping you usually have to drive a distance to get what you want.  So when I have to drive to get crickets for the geckos, it also includes a trip to the Michaels store for supplies.

It's so nice to see the sun.  After a day of rain yesterday.  Although that was good for our newly planted flowers.  The last couple weeks we have been purchasing flowers and planting.  We plant in pots.  Even our veggies are done in planters. We use to do a large garden.  But being out in the country, the wild animals usually get to the garden before things are ready to pick.  Bunnies love the little sprouts, and the deer eat everything including our flowers.  The trees have grown so big too, casting shadows on the garden area.  So our back patio in filled with pots.  Last year we did lettuce (which fed the guinea pigs all summer), carrots and radishes.  This year we added beans, peas and beets.  We'll see they do.

The other night while relaxing watching TV, I dusted off my art journal, and did a bit of doodling.  I found a pic of mushroom houses on Pinterest.  Here is my try at them.

Well, I think I'll go for a walk to try and get my mind working.  My first thought is to go back to bed now that everyone has left the house for the day.  But then nothing would get done.  Let's hope the blackflies aren't too bad.

Feel Better Soon

Good evening blog friends.  Our warm weather has finally arrived.  What a beautiful few days we have had.  With a bit of rain last week, everything is greening up nicely.  Tomorrow I get to enjoy the sun, since I've been working all week.  Although grocery shopping and errands are on the list tomorrow.  I am looking forward to coffee with my girlfriend in the afternoon.

I saw this card in a Cardmaker Magazine.  I thought what a great card to use for a masculine card.  One of my sons classmates had a horrible accident on the weekend.  Falling into a campfire, and receiving second degree burns.  Hopefully this will put a little smile on his face.  We're all thinking about you Nick.

keep smiling
