It's Coming Along Slowly But Surely

Evening everyone. Drywalling is finally done. Cupboard is built and mounted on the wall. Just needs doors. So I start to fill cupboard and realize, 'I have a lot of craft supplies '. Now I need help rethink storage of things. So I can get the most supplies packed in, but still easy to get at. Do you ever find that when you  start a job it usually turns into an even bigger job. I found a box from the Dollar Store that I stored my cards in at one time. Now it just holds a few cards that  I don't know what to do with. I'm hoping to organize my dies in the box. But now I have to find a home for the cards.

Off I go to watch Sailor Moon with my 16 year old daughter. She can't believe she found it at Walmart today.

Dusting Off Old Tools & Graduation

Wow, I've done it again. Don't blink or you have lost a week (or in this case more) . First I was busy with work, doing a ten day stretch to fill in for the full time bookkeeper. I find getting up at five every morning very tiring and don't get much accomplished. Then my son had to do a scrapbook for his grade eight grad. They only gave them just under two weeks to work on it. We managed to finish it one day late. I had to dig to the bottom of a draw to find my handy dandy little tool. It's been so long since I used it I can't remember what it's called or the little grommet gizmos I used it for. When I use them on cards I have a hand held compact unit to use. But his book is finished and he did a great job on it. They were all displayed at his graduation for everyone to have a look at.

Here is my little man.  I'm a very proud momma right now.  Starting school with a speech impairment and not being able to communicate.  Diagnosed with Motor Planning.  It was very frustrating for him, knowning what he wanted to say but not being able to get the information out.  Macaulay Public School was the best place for him.  Being small, under 300 students. It was like a large family.  The teachers and EA's were so wonderful, especially Mrs Ovell.  He had a special bond with her.  Speech therapists helped him to learn to talk.  The early years were hard.  But every year that passed he improved.  Speeking nonstop now.  All along though he has been such a happy carefree child.  So at graduation when his teacher was explaining the student that won the Citizenship Award.  Always smiling, always there for his peers, always has a joke to tell.  I'm thinking the whole time that sounds like my boy.  Then Mr A announced the name.  And yes it was my little man.  What an acheivement.  Now the next hurdle begins.  Off to High School in September.  When I went to high school we had no visits ahead of time.  Already he has been to the high school three times, and they have visited Macaulay once.  They have one more visit the week before school starts.  The Link Club organizes a BBQ, with another tour of the school. At this time the students are given there time table and shown where there locker is.

Update on craft area.  Since I was off most of last week, I managed to get some drywalling done.  Today I was able to get another coat on.  Should take one more sand then prime the wall.  By the end of the weekend I'm hoping to have my upper cupboard in place (minus the doors).

Red Poinsettias

My first Christmas card of the year. Although it's hard to think of Christmas when it's green and sunny outside.  My day off today was spent doing something I wanted instead of running the kids all over.  Daughter didn't miss the bus, so I didn't have to drive her. (Although that only requires throwing a hoody on over my pj's).  Son didn't forget something at home that I had to run into the school.  The whole day was mine.  Except for 45 minutes at lunch with hubbie.   After school we had to attend a parents meeting for my daughters France trip.  I so wish I had done the exchanges when I was in school, and am very pleased that my daughter is wanting to go.  Next year she will spend two weeks in Lyon France with a French student. In return the student will spend two weeks here.  It will be such an adventure for us all.

Back to my card.  I stamped my poinsettia in black ink.  Coloring was done with Spectum Noir blendable pencils.  Still practicing with them. I then tried to do a shadow around the flower, but didn't really like how it was turning out.  I found some gold mist in my stash and spritzed just my flower at first but didn't like that, so I did the whole card.  The centre of the flower is white pearls that I colored with a gold Sharpie marker.  The sentiment is a gold outline sticker.

ALL Things Grow With Love

Afternoon blog friends. Look at me go.  I have completed another card.  A simple background done with distress ink and a die cut.  A little more distress ink on the edges of a circle.  The little cutie was stamped and colored with pencils.  I then fussy cut her out, and mounted her with foam squares.  I will be ready for the next baby explosion.

10th Annual Langford Cemetary Heritage Day

Good evening everyone.  It has been a wonderful Sunday.  I don't get many as I work every weekend.  But as the end of the month falls on a weekend I was able to spend the day with my family.  I was also able to visit with many friends and family at the annual Heritage Day at the cemetery.  It is the only cemetery in town that is still run by the community.  Once a year we have a cleaning bee, were everyone gathers for a morning to rake, pick up fallen branches and just tidey.  The grass is kept cut by a neighbour.  The whole thing is run on donations, and community involvement.

This week our little tractor went in to have a bucket put on.  The yard is not safe now.  Today it took the whole family to put the mower deck back on.  It takes literally two minutes to take the bucket off, and an hour to get the mower deck on.  But now our grass is cut.

My card tonight was made special for a good friend.  She had hernia surgery this week. I got inky with this one.  Playing with my distress inks is one of my favorite techniques.

Dancing in the Tulips

Good evening everyone.  What a great two days I have had, and tomorrow will make three.  I have actually managed to finish a card and make one.  I've gone for a walk two days in a row.  I've done a couple loads of laundry, but pretty much ignored the rest of the house work.  So I guess tomorrow is a cleaning day.
This card started out a big old boo boo.  When I scored it to fold in half I somehow scored off centre.  So when I folded the edges didn't line up.  But do not fear, my creative juices were working overtime.  With the card open I stamped with a little tulip stamp three times down the right edge. I then placed a piece of vellum over the stamped image and closed the card. This was so I could see where the image was stamped. From here I restamped the tulip lining up over the image already there.  The image is now complete when the card is closed.  The frame on the front was done using a die cut, placing a rubber mat in so that it embossed and didn't cut through.  Before lifting the die off I inked around and the inside.  I then stamped my image.  All images were colored with Spectrum Noir blendable pencils. The sentiment is an outline sticker in silver.

Another Try at Doodling

Morning blogland.  How did life get so busy?  It just seems that I have no time for crafting anymore.  I always seem to be on the go.  When I'm not working it seems that I'm always running the roads.  Errands in town, appointments, running kids around, driving a half hour to pick up crickets.  That's one disadvantage of a small town.  Availability of things.  Now don't get me wrong, I love our town.  It's been a great place to raise our kids.  But when it comes to shopping you usually have to drive a distance to get what you want.  So when I have to drive to get crickets for the geckos, it also includes a trip to the Michaels store for supplies.

It's so nice to see the sun.  After a day of rain yesterday.  Although that was good for our newly planted flowers.  The last couple weeks we have been purchasing flowers and planting.  We plant in pots.  Even our veggies are done in planters. We use to do a large garden.  But being out in the country, the wild animals usually get to the garden before things are ready to pick.  Bunnies love the little sprouts, and the deer eat everything including our flowers.  The trees have grown so big too, casting shadows on the garden area.  So our back patio in filled with pots.  Last year we did lettuce (which fed the guinea pigs all summer), carrots and radishes.  This year we added beans, peas and beets.  We'll see they do.

The other night while relaxing watching TV, I dusted off my art journal, and did a bit of doodling.  I found a pic of mushroom houses on Pinterest.  Here is my try at them.

Well, I think I'll go for a walk to try and get my mind working.  My first thought is to go back to bed now that everyone has left the house for the day.  But then nothing would get done.  Let's hope the blackflies aren't too bad.

Feel Better Soon

Good evening blog friends.  Our warm weather has finally arrived.  What a beautiful few days we have had.  With a bit of rain last week, everything is greening up nicely.  Tomorrow I get to enjoy the sun, since I've been working all week.  Although grocery shopping and errands are on the list tomorrow.  I am looking forward to coffee with my girlfriend in the afternoon.

I saw this card in a Cardmaker Magazine.  I thought what a great card to use for a masculine card.  One of my sons classmates had a horrible accident on the weekend.  Falling into a campfire, and receiving second degree burns.  Hopefully this will put a little smile on his face.  We're all thinking about you Nick.

Welcome Baby

Afternoon everyone.  What a beautiful day we are having here.  nice bright warm sunshine.  I even ventured out for a walk down the road.

Here is my card to go with the final baby sweater.  I sponged the background with a stencil and distress ink. Stamped the little froggie and colored him with pencil crayons.

Case this Sketch - #120

I'm sorry I can't get the sketch to show up.  It's 11:30 when I've gotten back to my post to finish this.  After picking up my daughter from school and taking her to dentist.  And picking my son up because he hurt himself on the way to the skate park after school.  Only to have to take him to the hospital after dinner because he couldn't put any weight on his knee.  After two and half hours they were sending us home with a strained knee.  With orders to not do anything that hurts it.  So I ask, "how do I get him to walk when he can't put any weight on his knee?" So the doctor asks "Would crutches help?" Do you think?

Oh the Sweet Sounds of Nature

Morning all. What a great day this turning out to be. So far I have lurked around in some blogs, gone for a walk, and sat on the back patio and read my book. So peaceful to hear all the birds in the trees. The squirrels scurrying up and down the trees. And in the background the sound of the cars on the highway. Next on my list a baby card to go with this beautiful sweater I crocheted. I'm a knitter and don't do much crocheting. They always look so lacy, I finally got up the nerve to try one. I'm very happy how it turned out.

Happy Sweet 16

Good evening everyone.  I'm a little late to post my card.  It's been a busy work week, with only one day off.  Tuesday was my daughters 16th birthday.  I can't believe it.  Where has the time gone?  It seems like yesterday we were the nervous parents bringing home our first little bundle of joy.  Through all the ups and downs of growing she is becoming a fine young lady. She makes me very proud. Now comes the driving lessons.  She's already asked dad about it.  No mention to mom though.

Another Wee One

Afternoon everyone. Quick post before off to work. We are finally seeing an end to winter. Nice warm sunny days, finally melting all the snow.  The winter slump is starting to leave.

Here is the second baby sweater. I'm really  loving the color of this one. The pink with cream. The third sweat is different. Decided to try crocheting. Almost finished it, just have the bonnet to finish.

Busy Knitting Wee Things

Morning blog friends. Just when our snow was beginning to dissappear and we thought there was still hope to see spring. We wake up to a layer of snow this morning. Will it ever go away?

There seems to be a baby boom at hubbies office.   I have three sweeters to complete.  This one I'm sharing today was for one of the ladies first grand-daughters.  I have one more to do for her, as her other daughter is expecting any time too.  The third that I'm working on now, is for a co-worker of his.  I better hurray up, or baby will have outgrown it.  The wee thing is almost a month old now.  That is a good project to work on today as I watch the snow falling outside.

Don't know if any of you have played Trivia Crack? Over the weekend my daughter got me playing.  We've had alot of fun with it.  She doesn't like it when I ask hubbie for answers.  You should try it out.

Hello Weekend

Hello everyone.  The weekend is here.  Although not for me, as I work every weekend.  I've made it through the week back from holidays.  The sun is shining and the snow is going down.  I am so ready for spring.  The card I made this week makes me think of spring.  Pretty daffodils popping up through the snow will be a welcome sight.

I made a one layer card because this one is going in the mail.  My sister-in-laws birthday is today.  So much for sending out birthday cards this year,  this is the  first family card I have managed to get sent.

Awesome March Break

Evening all.  I wanted to share with you all the necklace I purchased over the weekend.  We had a great March Break this year with the kids.  Spending four days in Toronto. We walked so much my feet and hips hurt. Really wishing we didn't shut down the hot tub for the winter, it would feel great right now.

Although we didn't get to the Museum and Aquarium as planned, we did do alot of shopping and two days at the Toronto Comic Con.  Two days of pushing through the crowds, walking around and around.  So many comic books and figures. But everyong managed to find something to buy.

One of the authors that was there, had written a book that my daughter and I had read. Finding out that it was a trilogy, we ended up buying all three and having them autographed.  Hubbie, the big kid he is, came home with another Light Saber and Storm Trooper helmet.  And best of all my necklace.  It shows the phase of the moon on the day we were married. It is two days before the full moon.  The  moon soaks up the light all day and will glow at night.

Must go now and get everyone moving to get ready for bed. It's back to school and work tomorrow.

Love is in the Air

Good afternoon to all my friends in blogland.  Quick post before it's off to work for me on this cold day.  We are in another cold snap.  -24 last night, and not much warmer today.  It was -17 at lunch time when I slipped out to pick up my daughter from her last exam.  Now she has a four day weekend before starting her next semester.

Today I have mad a one-layer card.  This cute little image was colored with Spectrum Noir blendable pencils.  I still need more practice with them.  I doodled lines around the edges with little squigglies.

Jingle Belles - Bring in the New

Good evening everyone. Well the temperatures were a little better this week.  Started out cold, but by the end of the week it was bearable.  And no snow, other than a dusting last night.
I have been working on this card all week.  The start of the week I sat down to color.  I actually did two of the same image.  One painted with new watercolor paints, and this one using my new Spectrum Noir blendable pencils.  I like the pencil one the best so decided to use it.

Today I finished my card.  After struggling for awhile to get the embossing the way I wanted.  The Cuttlebug folders don't quite fit a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card face.  The bakers twine I made myself.  And the  Merry Christmas I only had in gold, so I colored it with a Sharpie marker in silver.

Tomorrow is off to a badminton tournament with my son.  It's just a fun day for the kids.  Round robins, no keeping track of who wins, and no medals or trophy's.  And they get pizza for lunch.  I think that's why most of them are going.

Where Does the Time Go?

I just can't believe when my last post was.  The days are just flying by.  The house is germ free once again. We managed to make it through Christmas and New Years.  And everyone has returned to work and school.  Although the kiddies had a short week.  It has been very cold and snowing here all week.  Thursday the roads were very slippery.  It should have been a snow day for the kids, but no off to school they went.  Well on the way home my sons bus ended up sliding off the road into a ditch.  With more snow Thursday and Friday, the buses didn't run. Here's hoping this snow stops soon.  I'm tired of clearing out the driveway.

For Christmas I received Spectrum Noir blendable pencils.  I have been playing around with them learning how to color.  Printing off the color charts from their site and colored them all in, and stamping some images to practice on.  It is going to take some work to get the hang of them.

I'm to finish up my calander.   I've been adding check off boxes, stickers and filling in important dates. Writing in everyones birthday and anniversary.  Maybe this will be the year I actually make and send out cards.
