Good afternoon blogland.  Quick post before the rush to get ready for the New Year.  And clean out the shed to make room for the new tractor.  Our Kubota arrived just a short time ago.  Now the John Deere gets moved outside with a tarp over it till the new owner picks it up.  Because this one bigger, we must rearrange stuff stored in there to get it in out of the weather.  Looks like hubbie may be using it tomorrow too, we are getting some snow here today.

Tonight will be our usual, just us and the kids.  Chinese dinner, maybe a movie, a bit of family time. I'll try to make it till midnight.  Most of the week I've been in bed before.

My card today is my first attempt of a card like this.  I embossed cardstock with the snowflake pattern, cutting a circle in it.  The snowflake is cut out with the silhouette and held in place with gold thread.  I then used to foam dimensions to centre to the front of the card.  Gold outline stickers were used for the sentiment.

Trees All Abling

Evening everyone.  I have finally made it to the computer.  First the kid beat me to it, and then we started ripping apart the ceiling and had to unplug the internet.  We have been storing a few bails of insulation in our coverall where the lawn tractor is stored.  Our new tractor is coming tomorrow so the insulation has to go to make room for the bigger tractor.  So up went the plastic to keep part of the basement clean, and down came the drywall on the ceiling.  There is always complications when doing home reno's and it takes you longer than expected.  Part the plastic to get through and plug the computers back in for the evening. Must hurry now, hubbie just logged into his computer.  Daughter is in the shower then she will be down to kick me off.  So nice to see the father daughter bonding over a game of Star Wars.

This card really came together for me.  The sketch was so great to work with.  My tree was fun to do.  Started with a new stamp that I got for Christmas.  The garland I used glossy accents then sprinkled with glitter.  The ornaments are metal jewels from my I-rock.  I stamped the tree onto the oval cut out my tree and glued it on.

A Happy Belated Merry Christmas

I would like to start by wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas.  With the rush of the season, internet problems, and the kids on the computer, it's sometimes hard to find the time to sit down and post.  I hope Santa found everyone, and you have been enjoying the holidays with friends and family.  This is the first time in along time that I have been home and not working.  So nice.

I would like to share with you this card that I made for my aunt.  A week ago she fell down her basement stairs and cracked her shoulder blade.  My poor cousin has had to do everything for her, including the baking that she didn't have done.  Poor Annette doesn't bake, but with aunties suporvision she managed to complete everything in time for Christmas Day.

I started with white cardstock and embossed the flowers with clear embossing powder.  I then inked with distress inks, wiping off the flowers when finished.  I spritzed some water on and added a pearl to the middle of the flower.  I mounted onto another white cardstock and then onto the card base using foam dimensions.

Santa brought me a set of pens for my silhouette, so I'm off now to download the free patterns that came with them.  It will be a silhouette afternoon.

Snowball Anyone

Good evening blogland.  My how time flies.  It's been a week since I was last on.  I'm not working these days, but seem to fill my day.

This past Sunday my son and I went to watch the Baysville Santa Claus Parade.  Baysville is a little town not far from us.  Their parade is so small it goes around town twice.

I managed to get all my Christmas cards written out yesterday.  Ready for the mail.  And baking is started.  Today was a snow day.  No buses running. There was so much snow that fell last night it was up to the bumper on the truck.  Even hubbie had to call in.

Last week I spent a day playing with my Silhouette.  Haven't done much on it, and really need to learn all the gadgets on it.  But I did manage to do some cutting and got a few cards put together.  I even managed to find a couple of challenges that apply.

Easy Peasy Cards

Good morning peeps.  Quick post this morning to show you a couple of quick cards.  When you don't have a lot of time or want something simple.  I found a sheet of paper by BoBunny with 12 images, all in nice little rectangle shapes.  I just cut out around shape, added some stickles and mounted onto a card, adding strips of decorative paper.  Ta Da your done.

Here is another.

I am able to enter these into Crafty Card Makers this week.  There challenge is clean and simple.

Enjoying the Santa Claus Parade

Evening everyone.  Hope you have enjoyed your weekend.  Happy Thanksgiving to all my American blog friends.  I know I'm late, but I took a week off.  Now that it's December I can start decorating.  This weekend we put up the lights on the house.  This week the Christmas tree will go up.  Now that I'm home and have time, the kids have asked that we decorate the whole house.  Usually I'm busy working and only the basement where the tree is gets the decorations.  The upstairs is usually pretty bare.

Here are a couple tags that I finished last week.  My son is bugging me to make tags. Our family supply is depleted and I have gifts wrapped.  It's killing him that he doesn't know which ones are his.

Son and I  enjoyed the local Santa Claus Parade today.  It turned out to be a not too bad day.  It's always been just me and the kids at the parade. This year with the daughter in grade nine, she has decided that it's boring and wouldn't join us.

Off to color her hair.  Blue is the choice of color.  She has dark hair, so we'll see how dark it comes out without bleaching it first.

Twinkle Twinkle

Afternoon everyone.  Boy am I on a role with Christmas cards.  My card today came about by accident.  I had actually picked the pattern on the other side of the paper.  It had penguins on it and was looking to do a card for a child.  I just happened to flip it over and the vision came to me.  I did use the penguins, but I much prefer this one.

Sometimes the simple sketches are the most fun to do.  I even had got to use my cuttlebug to cut out the snowflakes and eight black stars.

Little Balls All in a Row

Good afternoon all.  Here are two more cards I've cardlifted.  Giving my brain a little break.  The ornaments was from Jill Foster, and the lanterns I believe I've seen a similar one on the Penny Black blog.

The ornaments was a challenge.  I started out with markers to color directly on the stamp.  But that didn't work.  So I stamped the image in a light brown distress ink, and used the markers to color over.  Didn't like the way it looked so I tried to color over to do some shading.  Worked on some of the colors but not so much on others.  Then I took a contrast color and working each individual ornament at a time, reinked the stamp and stamped over the ornament.  I was finally happy.

The lanterns were colored with pencil crayons.  This one was a very simple card.  Placing twine to make it look as if they are hanging.

I must get on making my gift tags.  I've started rapping presents because I have nowhere to hide them.  But I have to remember what each one is because I have no tags to put on them.

Winter Snow Globe

Good afternoon everyone.  All my chores are done in town.  Hubbies been home for lunch and now it's time to create before it gets noisy again.  It's swimming night so I have to take a break this evening for a few hours.

I have two cards to show today.  This cute snow globe was colored with watercolor pencils.  A big of crystal stickles was add to the snow on the trees and roof.  I sketch came from Catch the Bug #146.

My second card was cardlifted.  It's such a simple elegant looking.  I don't remember were I saw it so I can't give you a link.

Good evening everyone.  I'm on a roll here.  Managed to get my card scanned and a few more made between power outages, and family coming home.  Tomorrow morning will be a right off.  I have forgotten to renew my drivers licance.  It must be done tomorrow, so off to town again.

I love this sketch it was so much fun to do.  I tore the decorative paper before adding on my string.  Placing my stamped image in the centre.  I added perfect pearls to the dots around the outside of the stamp.

Three little Christmas Trees

Good afternoon peeps.  What a windy cold day we are having here in Muskoka.  I had physio today for my foot.  First time since I was done work.  We were hoping that being off my feet a little more it would improve.  But that's not the case.  It's better, but not totally, so we're trying an aggressive approach again.  Going every week.  After two years of pain, something has to work.

I have two cards to post today, because I couldn't get the use of the computer yesterday.  Seems it was a Star Wars day for both daughter and hubbie.

This is a simple card.  Stamped and them I restamped a few times onto decorative paper. Cutting out the trees.  Also adding some stickles onto them, and some for the snow hills.

Winter Wonderland

Wow, what a week I've had.  It started last Sunday when my aunt and I drove 4 1/2 hours to Ottawa.  Staying at one of the oldest motels there the Chateau Laurier.  It felt like we were staying at a castle, what great elegance.  It was a great few days away without the family.  We went for the Remembrance Day Service on Monday.  But while we were there we got in some shopping, and met up with friends for dinner.

It is great to get away but always nice to be back home.  Hoping to get some cards posted, but to come home to no internet.  And a busy end to the week.  Here we are Saturday and I finally have time to sit at the computer and post a card.

I hate bad news

Evening everyone. Well we woke to a light dusting of snow this morning.  But most of it was gone by this afternoon.  We finished up the last of the outside chores.  Everything is now put away in the sheds or tarpped to keep the snow off.  We are ready for the snow.  Well at least the yard is, I could do without snow.

Tomorrow we were to head to the city to our nieces for a family day.  But last night we received a phone call that her father-in-law had passed away.  I wanted to make a simple one layer card to go in the mail, so this is what I came up with.  It's the first time I used my cutting die for embossing.  The first attempt with white ink didn't go so good, so I just stamped over it with versa mark and white embossed.

Tomorrow with be spent getting the house in order and packing.  Hubbie and the kids are on their own for a few days while I'm off in Ottawa with my auntie for Remembrance Day.

It's a jammie day

Afternoon all.  What a sweet sketch I found over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday today.  It has taken me all afternoon but I've done it, and very happy.  My Santa is another 3D image.

What a great day it's been.  After sending everyone out the door this morning, I sat down at my tablet and went through card blogs for inspiration, and challenge sites to see what's new.  All raring and ready to go I hit my craft area.  OK it took me a bit to get started because I had to get rid of the clutter so I had some room to work.  Then it was a leisurely day of watching NCIS reruns while working on my card.  Hoping to get a couple more cards completed tonight.

I have a lot of work to do in the next two weeks.  A couple weeks ago I tried to sign up for the craft sale I do every November.  But I was too late all the tables were gone.  I was put on a waiting list.  Thinking that I wouldn't be going this year I haven't been working that hard.  Yesterday I got a phone call telling me they have added 13 more tables. When will I learn not to leave things till the last minute.

Old Time Santa

Good evening everyone.  It was a chilly one here today. Down to -5 tonight. Spent some time outside today gathering up all the summer stuff from around the yard.  Packing it away in the sheds.  It was cool enough that you could see your breath. But soon I will be toasty warm, as we are heading out to the hot tub.  Some adult time, with our little tray of snacks and a bottle of wine.

My card tonight is a simple one.  Trying to ease back in gradually.  The image is a 3D image, I rather enjoy putting them together.  The three pearls on the right were colored with a gold Sharpie to match the gold trim around the image. I keep a stash of white pearls now, that way you can color them to match.

the Start to a New Adventure

Good morning everyone.  I'm back.  So sorry it has been sooo long since my last post.  So much has been happening.  Once again life has gotten in the way of all the FUN stuff.

First up, I am into my fourth day of being unemployed.  Feeling a little lost, and not knowing quite what to do.  Surprisingly the decision was not that hard to make, especially when I have my hubbies full support. Now I am taking a month to do what I want, before I have to decide what to do next.  I think it's time for a new career, although I'm terrified to return to school at my age if that is where it leads me.

Enough of that.  Two weeks ago we had the honor of hosting a Japanese student for 8 nights. What an experience for all involved, one that I would do again.  We had a great time with Shuko enough though communication was difficult, her English wasn't that great. But we managed.  I managed to put together a card for her parents just to let them know how things went here in Canada.

This orchid stamp is one of my fav flower stamps.  I colored this one with markers, giving it the vibrant color.  I'm still struggling with markers, so if anyone knows of a good tutorial let me know.

Yesterday I spent the day at a Christmas Card Class through the local craft store.  I enjoy this class every year, it gets me started on my Christmas cards.  We made 10 cards.  It's always a rush to get finished, but I managed it yesterday.  Although none of the coloring was done, so that a job for today.

Off to check on the snow.  We had our first snow last night, although it is just a skiff, I'm not ready for the cold.  Tomorrow they are calling for rain.  The poor kids, it's always cold and rainy on Halloween.

Happy Birthday Auntie

Good evening fellow bloggers.  What a week.  Kids went back to school, I went back to work, only to find a big upset there. But that's for another time when I have  processed all the crap that has happened.

Tonight we were off to a BBQ for my aunt.  She turns 70 this week.  It was a good evening despite the constant mist of rain. She had borrowed a big tent and had that for everyone to sit under.

Last night I whipped up this card for her. I colored it with Spectrum Noir markers.  It's going to take a lot of practice to learn how to use them.  If anyone knows of a good tutorial, please let me know.

Having Fun With Mod Podge

Afternoon all my blogging friends.  Here I am on Sunday afternoon, starting my second week of holidays.  Last week was so much fun for us.  We took a four day family vacation to Ottawa.  What a great time we had.  So much walking.  There are so many sights to see, you just can't take them all in.  We did manage to see the Spark St, War Museum, Byward Market, Rideau Centre.  On our last day we had headed out to the Aviation Museum where there was a Star Wars Exhibition.  When we arrived we were parked way out in the overflow parking, and none of us wanted to fight large crowds.  So we opted for shopping at a costume store for Sam, and headed home.

Yesterday Randy and Sam were up at 5am to head off to Toronto for Fan Exbo.  Sam had a great time dispite the large crowds.  Meeting some of the cast from Walking Dead, and having her picture taken with Chewboca from Star Wars. While they were away Grant and I spent our day doing things he liked.  A walk around the local Farmers Market, where we didn't find anything of interest.  We then spent a couple hours at Scales Nature Park, looking a snakes, turtles, tortoise, lizards.  A trip to Michaels was my favorite.  Then off to Lost World Reptile to replace a rock we had purchased to Eunice that was too big.  We ended up coming home with a new gecko, a male that looked similar to the male we lost.  This little guy is nearly full grown and you can handle him, which gives Grant more incentive to handle Eunice.

While I was browsing around Michaels I came across molds made by Mod Podge.  You use their glue sticks in any mini hot glue gun.  Wait 5 minutes and pop them out of the molds.  You can then paint them any way you want.

I painted the flowers with acrylic paints, and the leaf with a sharpie marker. I even added a little jewel to one flower.  You can then use them as embellishments for your cards and scrapbook pages.

Good morning everyone.  I'd like to wish all my Canadian bloggers a happy Civic Long Weekend.  I had to work yesterday but am off for Sunday and Monday.  Thinking not much is going to get done today.  Daughter wants to make a trip to McDonalds to use their Wi-Fi.  We have hit our limit at home.(that's one of the downfalls of living out of town.  Limited choices of internet providers.)  I have a lot of updates to do on my tablet too.

Looks like it's a work day for the boys.  To guys have shown up with chainsaws.  Apparently all the guys are back in the bush with chainsaws and wood chipper going.

Last night I was playing with my Basic Grey paper before I packed it up to get the next months out.  This is the little cutie I came up with.  It also fits a few challenges. It's been so long since I've done a challenge.  Feels good.

I Did Something Crafty

Good morning everyone.  I have finally found the time to sit at my craft table and clear and organize it.  I managed to do something crafty at it too after my hard work.  Although it is from a kit.  I have one more card to make from the first month of my Basic Grey Card Kit.  I will be picking up the third package this week, so I had better get moving on these.

I can't believe that the kids summer vacation is half over.  We haven't done much so far this summer.  Although Sam and I have got her room painted.  Touch ups on it today where the taped peeled the paint off and then it's furniture shopping.  A few trips to the beach with the little guy.  And some relaxing time in the back yard.  I'm really enjoying reading outside in the peaceful surroundings.

Well off to through another load in the washer.  It's bedding day.  Unfortunately the weather is not co-operating today to hang it out on the line.

Beautiful Day

Evening everyone. This is our little piece of paridice. Today I enjoyed it quit a bit. We are on our fourth day of heat in the very high thirties. This little space in the back yard always has a breeze blowing through, so it was ideal in the heat today. I did a lot of reading there today.

Tomorrow is back to work. Hoping for some rain to break the heat. It's pretty bad at work especially if you're doing the cooking. The blast of heat every time you open the oven door. But at least it's a short day. Then off to the doctors with the little guy to have his shoulder checked again. Hoping there has been some healing this time.

Happy Lil Piggies

It all started at Easter. My daughter had a male guinea pig that is the sweetest cuddliest little thing. Hubbie showed interest in him, talking to him and feeding him treats. Just before Easter I was in the pet store and saw a cute little red and white guinea pig, with rosettes all over it. A male is what they told me it was. So I brought him home and put him in the cage with Kaz. They got along great. Then Jo started getting fatter, and fatter. They were then separated into their cage. Jo turned out to be a girl. Three weeks ago Jo had her babies. Four with three surviving. They are the cutest little things. The little guy has already picked his out, so I guess we're keeping one. Tonight we all sat on the floor and took all the babies and momma out to play. It was fun watching them run around, whistling.
The next adventure with them is a trip to the vets on Monday.

End of School

Evening everyone.  Here we are with the first day of the long weekend almost over.  Unfortunately I have to work the entire thing.  But maybe the next one.

Here is the card I made for Grant's teacher.  Unfortunately she is leaving the school this year.  I am so glad that both kids were able to have her as a teacher.

Poor Grant wasn't even able to spend the last day with her.  I sent him on the bus for the first time since his accident.  When he arrived at school I received a phone call saying he was sick and had to go home.  Poor little fellow ended up with the flu.  Passing it on to his dad the next day. Now Sam has a cold.  I'm sure that will go around the house.

Well recently we have become a very electronic family.  We've always had a couple PC's, a couple laptops, DS's, I-pods. The phones we had were just little flip phone that was only used for calls and the occasional text.  For Sam's graduation we wanted to get her a phone.  We ended up with all three of us getting Blackberry Z10.  That posed a problem when Grant went away for the weekend and we had no phone to send with him.(not sending a new smartphone to a cottage with a 12 year old) I ended up buying another flip phone for him to use.  Last week the Source had Kobo mini's on half price.  I already had one, but now the whole family has their own.  Yesterday Grant purchased the newest DS3D with his allowance money.  OMG, what did we do before all these electronics.

happy graduate

Good afternoon everyone.  Well it's official.  My baby girl is a grade 8 graduate.  Seems like yesterday I was putting a small little girl onto the big school bus.  Where does the time go?  Well Tuesday was a long day.  Spending the afternoon at the spa/salon getting my little girl beautiful.  We started with her nails done in a very deep purple.  Then it was a little bit of make up.  (boy does she look grown up)  Then it was next door to the salon for her hair.  Lianne knows exactly what she likes, and did a great job on her hair.  There was so much hair spray it must have added 1/2 lb to her.  Her dress was ordered from the UK.  Since we couldn't find one she liked on our shopping excurtion.  Since she doesn't wear heels we settled on a pair of black leather flat boots.  With the whole outfit put together she was a stunner.  I can't believe how much she has grown up in the last year.

Beautiful Peonies

Morning fellow bloggers. Still no cards to share, but I will tomorrow. I'm on my way down to do a retirement card for Grants teacher. Baring no interuptions. Had to drive the little guy to s bool this morning because the bus ride is too rough on his shoulder. He broke his color bone last week in a little bicycle accident. I ended up staying at the school to watch a music assembly, but have to go back at lunch to get him. Poor thing can't do anything. Even using the other arm pulls on it, so he's pretty much useless. Thanks to the lazy boy couch he can sleep at night, don't know how we would manage just with his bed. Not being able to lay down because there is no way to get back up. Rolling onto either side is out. But we'll manage. Here's hoping it heals fast.

On a cheerier note. So excited about tomorrow. It's Samantha's graduation from grade 8. I have booked her nail, makeup, and hair appointments for the day, so she won't have to go to school. Then Wednesday is their last day. Can't believe summer vacation is here already.

Baby Piggies

Well it's been a while since my last post. I have been busy with life. No card make has been done in months. I'm getting the itch to sit at my craft table and create.

For the last three days I have been at a camp with my daughters grade 8 class on their end of year trip. There are two grade 7/8 classes at our school, both teachers are male. So females were needed to sleep in the girls dorm. The housing was a two storey building, boys were on the top floor and girls on the main. There were 4 students in each room sharing bunks, shower and toilet. What a great three days the kids had. All getting along so well together, helping each other in all the activities they did.

The first day consisted of candle making, kaiaking, camp fire and astronomy. Day two was packed with activity. Archery, mountain biking, high ropes, capture the flag and movie night. Today was a little layed back with clean up and a few games. Free time for some volley ball. The ecology game where they had a blast.

Big surprise for us when we got home, which if my phone hadn't crapped out on me today I would have known that our guinea pig had her babies last night. She was so big when we left. My daughter says she looks like a table she was so wide. Not fitting in her house. Sometimes caring it on her back like a turtle shell.

It's a funny story with our pigs. My daughter got a male guinea pig. Hubbie liked it so we went and got him one. When we got Jo we were told it was a male. So he was brought home and put in the cage with Caz. I raised pigs when I was younger, so on further inspection after we had him a while I discovered that Jo was a she not a he. So she got her own cage. She grew fatter and fatter. Huge would be the word. Well, through the night she had her babies. Having four but only three survived. Pretty good for being so young and a first litter. They are so cute. And not even 24 hours old and they are eating lettuce.

I've been sitting on this card for over a week.  Trying to find time to post it.  A few weeks ago my sister-in-law broke her leg.  She has MS so her bones are getting so brittle.  I made this card for her, and surprise surprise it's still sitting on my table waiting for the mail.  I am so bad at sending cards.  My Christmas cards are sitting on my craft table.  All written out with the kids school pic in it.  They are even addressed.  Now I have Sam's graduation pictures, so I think I'll open up the Christmas cards and save them for next year.  Make up some nice spring/summer cards and get them out of here.

This card was so quick to make.  I just went into my stash of shapes, and found the vase and flowers already cut.  The background is distress ink on a stamp block and spritzed with water, stamping onto watercolor paper.  I then layered onto a card base.

Gotta  go.  Have my weekly physio for my foot.  If I'm home and not on it all day it feels not bad.  But working and being on my feet all day.  It brings me to tears.  They better figure this out soon.

Keep smiling

Hello Everyone

Here we are Sunday the start of a new week. My new position at work is going good. I come home feeling more relaxed. My foot is a little easier to walk on with it taped. And I have a Sunday off to relax. And this means craft time. This morning I managed to complete three more of my Basic Grey Cards. Two more to go and I'm done the month of April.

Off to do some laundry and house work. Yahh, my favorite thing.

Here's a peak at my latest finishes.

What a Week

Well, what a week it's been. The trip to Yearly last Thursday Friday was amazing. Two days of outdoor activities. All the walking in the soft snow was a killer on my soar foot though. But I survived. To come home and work right through till Wednesday. Thinking it would be a quiet day at home. Huh, think again. A new patch for Star Wars was released Tuesday, so hubbie stayed home from work to play along with Sam. Hubbie said she had a family engagement. (father daughter bonding). Grant and I lazed around all day with a cold. How I hate being sick.

I moved to a different department at work this week too. Really enjoying it. Although more walking is hard on my foot. Today I had an appointment at the physiotherapist. All of his tests lead to a bad strain. How it happened is beyond me. My arch seems to be dropping down too, and that could be causing the pain. He did tape it to lift the arch and it seems to help. We'll see when I go to work tomorrow.

I have managed to make three cards from my Basic Grey card kit. It's different not using stamps on a card.

happy weekend

I Love Packages

Evening everyone. Don't you love getting packages. I do. Today I received a package in the mail. An EZMagnetic Storage Container. It's magnetic sheets to hold your metal die cuts on one side and your stamps will stick on the back. Looks really handy.

Yesterday I picked up my first deliveries of the Basic Grey Card Kit. Finally got a look at it tonight. Excited to get started on it, because the cards are different from what I'd normally do. But no working on it for awhile. Tomorrow night the little guy and I are making muffins to take on his school trip Thursday. Because the teachers union has told them they are able to resume extra caricular activities, we went from a day program at the school to the over night trip at Yearly within a week. So glad he's not going to miss this. I went with my daughter and it was an amazing program. The kids had so much fun. Although, it's still like winter here, so I'm hoping for warmer weather.
happy crafting
