One child down. The second getting ready. Mom and dad heading to the hot tub for a little relax before bed.  Then tuck in so Santa can come. It will be an early morning.
Merry Christmas to everyone.  Hope you all have a joyous day tomorrow.

Beautiful Sunset to End the Day

Good afternoon everyone.  As I sit here at the dining room table, I look up to this beautiful sunset.  What a beautiful picture.  It's been a long day.  Since today was our day for the teachers strike, all elementary schools were closed.  Sleep in, yah.  Not, Fedex shows up knocking at the door at 8am to deliver a package I ordered to my daughter.  Now because she was here she now's I ordered from her long list of on-line Christmas presents. Doctors appointment for a check up.  Shopping for Christmas gifts with the little guy.  He managed to find something for his sister and dad.  When we got home he had a friend over for the afternoon.  We replaced the wood chips in the lizard tank to carpeting.  Made chocolate chip cookies for the bake table at the badminton tournament on Saturday.  A few loads of laundry thrown in.  Hubbies been away for a couple days and will be home later tonight.  So dinner is fend for yourself.  Leftover night.  And early to bed.

First Snow Day of the Year

Good evening every.  A quick post then I'm off to watch some TV with my little man who is sick.  Why is it that kids always throw up all over the floor when they are standing right beside an object they can use to catch the mess.  Last night he was right beside the garbage can.  But instead of lifting the lid and letting it fly, it ended up all over the floor beside the garbage can.
Through the night we had freezing rain, which cancelled all buses in the area today. Giving the kids a long weekend.  It will be a short week this week for them because it was anounced this afternoon that Thursday is our day for the teachers to walk out.  So schools are closed on Thursday.  I don't agree with what the government did.  But I also don't agree with the teachers taking it out on the kids.  Withholding  all extra activities, and now walking out for a day.  It has been very stressful for alot of kids.
Enough on that.  The card I want to share today is this beautiful deer.  His antlers didn't cut the best.  Love the look of the black and white.  Looks like he is standing in front of a giant moon. Wish I had more time to play with my silhouette.  I love piecing all the parts together.
Time to go.  Hoping for clear skies tomorrow.

Wondering in the Woods

Afternoon everyone.  What do you do when you need to dust your house?  Sand the window down with a power sander to make a layer of sawdust on the entire house.  What was I thinking?

Anyway, here is my card for today.  Was I able to finish up the cards I was working on yesterday.  Isn't this little guy just the cutest.  Another creation using my Cameo.

Back to work tomorrow.  Off to the school in the morning to count the money from the Christmas Raffle tickets. And to work in the afternoon.

Winter Wonderland

Afternoon everyone.  What a dreary day we are having here.  It has rained all day.  So much for the snow we got last week.  It is pretty much gone now.  I have had the day off. Spent some time this morning playing with my silhoutte.  It really is a fun machine.   I'm working on reindeer today.

I just love the dimensional cards.  Piecing together all the pieces.  Until my last on line order when I purchased this image, I have always just used the foam squares that I pick up at the local craft store.  Well I've always thought them to be too thick, but used them because thats what I had.  At the Christmas Card Class we used pieces of scrap cardstock on a card to lift it a bit.  What a brilliant idea.  Then when I was looking through all the decoupage card sets I noticed they had a thinner foam square.  Not realizing when I purchased just how thin they were.  I LOVE THEM.  MY next order will include more, just so I never run out.

Gingerbread Men

Morning everyone.  Quick post this morning before heading off to work.  What a morning!  Worked last night.  So hubbie was in charge.  Somehow the little guy didn't get to bed on time. He was still awake when I got home just after 10.  What a grump this morning.  I sure was glad when he walked out the door to catch the bus.

So at 10:30 last night when I got home I sat down and whipped up a card.  Love this little one legged gingerbread guy from Graphicats.  The sentiment to go with him is so cute.  On the outside I put "everyone loves the gingerbread man cute and sweet with a golden tan", and on the inside "and if he gives you any flack, you can have him for a snack".  So cute.

On the run now.

Oh Christmas Tree

Afternoon everyone.  I've finally made it to the computer to get my card posted.  Yesterday was brutal.  I have not been so sick for years.  I couldn't even get out of bed.  Feeling better this after noon.  Body aches are almost gone.

On the weekend I dusted off my silhouette for this one.  Took me awhile to figure out how to separate the images, but I got it done.  This is a cute whimsickle tree. So simple, I started with masking off the outside frame, and inking with my favorite blue and purple distress ink.  I then glued the image on and stamped the sentiment.  Voila.

Goodbye to our Dear Fenn

It's  been a sad weekend at our house.  Friday evening we had to make the decision to put our dear Fenn to sleep.  It's been a long struggle to try to heal her.  Trying everything, pills, cream, food change.  There was nothing else to do. Her hole just would not close up.  And finally when I could see it getting smaller for the first time in a long time, it blew open again.  There was nothing else for us to do.  You could see she was in pain again.  She is now at peace in the side yard, watching over her family.  And she will always be in our hearts.

ReDo

Evening everyone.  Well we woke up to snow again this morning.  I knew we were to get it, but expected a little sciff.  It was actually big fluffy, and it's still on the ground.  I'm hoping it's not here to stay.  It's way too early.

My cards tonight are a couple of my favorites that I've made in previous years.  I just love the embossed tree on the silver paper. And blue jewels just add that little touch to it.

Snowman Poop

Good evening everyone.  A quick post before I run out the door to Parent Council Meeting.  Last night I managed to complete six tags.  The stamp is from graghicats.  I just love their stamps.  I actually bought it last year and never had the chance to use it.  So I thought it would be a cute idea for the craft sale this weekend.  I pieced the snowman, stamping the image several times on different dec paper.  This was a great job for in front of the TV.  My craft area is downstairs, but the main TV that we tape on the PVR is upstairs.  So I was able to watch TV while I cut out all my snowman pieces.  Off to my meeting, hoping for the dishes to be finished when I return.

Jolly Snowmen for Jingle Bells Challenge

Good afternoon everyone.  Well after being home for a week it's back to work today.  My first shift and I'm there till 10 tonight, and back in at 8 in the morning.  But we do what we have to.

Yesterday all our snow was gone from Friday and it was clean up day.  Actually Saturday and Sunday were spent outside picking up the pine needles and all the summer stuff.  Reorganizing the shed, pulling all the winter stuff out and packing the summer stuff at the back.  There was alot of complaining from the kids because it was quite cool out, only +3C.

Last night I managed to put this card together.  Love the sketch, nice and simple and clean.  Join in the sketch challenge over at Jingle Bells.  And I just noticed as I was retreiving the sketch pic that I missed the 3 embelishments on the top of the card.  Forgive me, but I don't have time to add it now.

  Here is the sketch.

Christmas Card Class

Evening everyone.  Here it is Saturday night, and two more sleeps till I have to go back to work.  A week goes so quickly.  And I have accomplished nothing.  Relaxed and had alot of me time.  Babysat my little man's new lizard.  He is the proud owner of a baby leopard gecko.  I didn't realize when I was researching that you had to feed the food too.  Finally today we got him to eat for the first time.  I think I'm as interested in the lizard as my son.

Wednesday I went to a card class at the local craft store.  We completed 10 cards in 5 hours.  What a rush.  Last night I did some finishing touches to them that I didn't have time for at the class. It was a very enjoyable day.  Catching up with an old friend, learning new techniques, and brushing up on some old ones.

Here's a look at my cards.

Oh Christmas Tree X Two

Good evening everyone.  Today was a very productive first day of my holidays.  It was a jammie day. Most of the day was spent in front of the TV with the computer.  Daughter and me got caught up on Supernatural.  While watching I surfed the web, played some games.  Did a couple loads of laundry.  This evening I even managed to make a tag.

While checking on blogs today, I came across a tag that just jumped out at me.  Here is my version. You can find the original at Gone by the Board.

I liked the tag so much, I made another one and mounted it onto a card.

Not bad for one evenings work.

Here Comes Santa

Evening everyone.  Well, my boy didn't get overly dirty yesterday.  I managed to see his race.  He was near the back of the pack, but not dead last.  Very proud of him for going for the day.

Whipped up a quick card tonight.  Inked up my stamping block with two colors of ink, and spritzed with water.  Stamping on watercolor paper.  Then using black ink stamped Santa .  Love these easy cards.

Dive into the Scrap Bucket

Good morning everyone.  A quick post before I'm off to watch my son run the Muskoka Mud Run.  He got up this morning wishing he hadn't signed up.  It has rained for the last several days.  I can only imagine what he'll look like when he's done.  He had to take a change of clothes with him.  The bad part, his outdoor runners have a huge hole in the top of them and he can't run in them.  So it was off to Walmart last night for new shoes that I've been putting off buying.  At least they are black.  Hoping hubbie has disconnected the hose yet.  I think we'll need it.

Last night I whipped up a card.  Really have to get my butt in gear.  I only have a few weeks till the craft sale.  I used my new snow globe again, this time with Santa in it.

. The sketch I followed is from Graphicat. Hop on over and check them out.

Let It Snow

Hello everyone.  It's the end of a very wet weekend.  I have felt as grey as the weather.  Picking up the leaves and pine needles was on the agenda for the weekend.  Yesterday was off to a slow start.  Then the rain set in and hasn't stopped.  Dear daughter has had a cold this week, and I feel like I'm fighting to not get it.  Sore throat, heavy chest.  And sleeping on the couch for two nights doesn't help.  Her cough becomes worse at bedtime.  Usually an extra pillow to prop up is enough, but not this time.  Thanks to the Lazy Boys in the couch so she can semi sit up to sleep.  Here's hoping I can sleep in bed tonight.
Good thing about the rain today, I was able to make a card.  I've finally gotten to use my new set from Flourish's.  Just love the snow globe.  There are three different images to go inside.  Here is the first one.

The sketch I used was from the Sweet Stop

It's a Start

Evening all. So I made it final, I bit the bullet and signed up for the craft sale in November. I've done this show for several years now, and between my cards and painted Christmas ornamentsdo not bad. But I have no Christmas cards left from last year, so have alot of work ahead of me. I made progress tonight.  Thought I'd start with some tags. I do need some help. I stamped the trees with green distress ink and want to color the trunks brown. Thought markers would work well, but what kind? I have sharpies, identi pens, and spectrum noir. Or would pencil crayons work better? Any suggestions out there?

Organization

Hello everyone. I can't believe how long it's been since my last post. And since I've been crafting.

I'm still trying to organize my stamps. I have them all nearly in three ring binders, which works well. But I've also stamped them into another book for quick reference. That wasn't working so well. It was hard to add to it. But I've found mini three ring binders that will do just fine. Easy to add to when new stamps are purchased.

There just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day. Now the kids are getting older it's a little later that they go to bed. The youngest still likes a story at bed, so by the time I'm done with him I don't have much time till bed myself. And crafting is not at the top of my list.

Once again it's nearing the end of the day. A little TV to relax and off to bed. The start of another week.

Good nite all, sweet dreams.

Oh Christmas Tree

Good evening everyone.  Hope you all have had a good week.  This is the last long weekend of the summer.  A very busy time in our town.  The last weekend to spend at the cottage before the kids are back in school.  This one I'm sitting out.  Spending some much needed time with the family.  And getting the kids ready for school.  Yesterday we were off to Orillia for some clothes shopping.  My two favorite stores are now side by side there.  Value Village and Payless Shoes.  A quick stop at the mall for hubbie, add Sam discovered a new store there.  Ardenes.  They have expanded to a larger store, with clothing and accessories.  It was hard to drag her out of there.

A quick card to show you.  Last night I wanted to play with my Pearl Ex.  I found a stencil of a Christmas tree and laying it on the blue paper I used versa mark.  I then used a stencil brush and pounced the pearl ex where I wanted it on the image.  Carefully remove the stencil so as not to get the color all over the paper. And spray a sealer over the image.  I then added a few gems just to add to it.  Mounted this on red cardstock.  I then stamped in red the music background right onto the white card.  I then mounted the image onto the card with foam squares.

On a Roll With Christmas

Well, it seems I'm on a Christmas roll.  I liked Pams sketch so much I did another one.  I found the image already made up in my stash bucket.  The glitter was added on two way tape and some cord wrapped around.  The bottom was a bad move.  It looks great with the plaid paper showing on the bottom, but when I went to stand it up to take a pic, I found the problem.  The bottom is uneven, and won't stand.

I'm entering this on in 365 Cards-Day 172-Super Sketchy Sunday

Simple Christmas

Good evening everyone.  I have enjoyed my last day of freedom.  Tomorrow is back to work.  But I did manage to sit down today and make a card.

After making the Christmas card the other day, I dug out an album I've been working on for a couple years.  As I was going through all the embellishments I found a package of stickers I'd picked up at the dollar store.  When I saw the cardinal I just knew what I was doing with it.  It would go perfect on the sketch from 365 Cards. Pam did an awesome job on the sketch.  Simple is my favorite.

Seasons Greetings

Afternoon everyone.  What a glorious day we are having here today.  The sun is shining, although the breeze is cool.  But not like yesterday.  Cloudy, cold.  The coolness brought on images of winter and inspired me to make a Christmas card.

It took a few tries with the tree to get the technique, but I finally managed to get the images lined up just right and the ink not to smudge.  I even managed to make it for a challenge.

You can find this great sketch over at jingle belles.  Stop on by and check it out.

Puppy Love

Morning everyone.  Hope you are enjoying your weekend.  The countdown is on till the end of holidays.  Two days to go.  The weather has turned cooler and it feels like a lazy day.  I think it's going to be a jammie day.   It has been a great two weeks.  We managed to get alot of yard work done.
Yesterday we went to visit my mother in law.  It's an hour and half drive.  She lives in a retirement home, so the visit is quick.  A little visit, take her out for lunch, and another visit, then the drive home.  After lunch at Kelsey's we stopped at their local Hobbie store.  They don't supply much crafting items, but I did manage to find Laurie Speltz"s Instant Images Pocket Template.  Now I know all the instructions tell you to use paints (which I have alot of) but I thought why won't my distress inks work.  Well, they do to go from light to dark when layering, but from dark to light not so good.  But for a first attempt it turned out not bad.

I do enjoy doing the one layer cards, and working with the inks.  I'll have to blow the dust off my paints and give them a try with the template.

Reconstruction

Evening everyone.  Holidays are going great.  So far I've done nothing but relax, and laundry.  Yesterday was spent sitting outside reading.  It was an overcast day with a few sprinkles of rain here and there.  But our little sitting area is a cluster trees and I didn't feel a drop.

What a glorious day today.  Nice sunshine, warm weather without the humidity.  The perfect day to work in the backyard.  Hubbie dismantled the race track and rebuilt it.  I guess you can't run the same track every year.  I was surprised how quick it went.  He and Grant pulled up the pipe and rearranged it, while Sam and I raked and weeded it.  Since we haven't had much rain it is really dry and you can't race on it.  So it will take a day of watering and rolling it smooth, and it's ready to go.

Here is a pic of the new patio beside the race track.  We used the table for the first time there tonight.  Farther from the house to carry everything, but it doesn't get the sun that the other patio does.

Must get working on my cards.  I have till the 18th to have my swap cards finished.

Hurray Hurray Vacation Time

Hello everyone.  Here I am, just after midnight, my first day of vacation.  So looking forward to some family time.  Hubbie has been on holidays for a week now, and I get to join him for two weeks.  So looking forward to the time at home.  Stress free.  After working a very busy long weekend I'm ready.  And to start it off today I was stung by a wasp.

Never be the look out for the man poking the wasp nest with a stick.  They have crawled under the top edge of the hot tub and made a nest.  After weeks of spraying there has been no activity, with lots of dead wasps on the ground.  Today we decide to pull the panel off the side of the hot tub to get at the nest.  Panel off, nothing seems to be happening.  Man takes stick to remove nest, wasp appears from nowhere.  Right at me, bit me right through my shirt on the arm.  Holy crap did that hurt.  Let me tell you, he was on his own to spray it again.

Well, watching a bit more of the Olympics since I don't have to get up in the morning.

Card Swap

Evening everyone.  What a way to get back into a project.  Our local card store is having their first card swap.  I thought, what the heck, I can do this.  Just got the official e-mail, nine people signed up.  That's right, I have to make nine cards all the same.  Fun, looking forward to seeing the variety of cards I will get back.  It's also giving me a chance to play with my new spectrum noir markers.  I've chosen a stamp to color in.  After the coloring is done I'm not sure what I'll do.  I'll get back to you.

Family Time

Evening everyone.  Here it is 10:30 again tonight and I'm sitting down to post.  What a great day it has been.  Up early for a cleaning job, dentist appointment, home in time for lunch.  Then off to the beach with the kids.  We have been having great weather.  My favorite is after dinner on the front porch with my tea and a good book, with the evening sun shining on me.  What a glorious life.

And for the second night in a row I've managed to make a card.  Relaxing playing with the inks.  Tonights card was started by inking on a stamping block, spritzing with water and stamping it on watercolor paper.  I then used the same colors and stamped the grasses.  The dragonfly was stamped in black ink.  A few pearls were added.  I really enjoy these one layer cards.

Inky Hands

Evening everyone.  Hope everyone is enjoying their summer.  We have managed to make it to the beach a couple times so far.  I'm off tomorrow and the beach is on my to-do list after a few errands in the morning.

While checking out some blogs this week, I came across the Monday video at Penny Black.  Here is my take on their technique.  Although I don't have the Tim Holtz markers it turned out just fine.  I just painted from the distress ink pad to fill in the flowers.  Out of all the techniques I think playing with the ink pad is my fav.  Getting all inky.

With Deepest Sympathy

I want to start by wishing all my Canadian blog friends a happy Canada Day.  And to all my American friends a happy July 4th.

Last night we went out to town to watch the fireworks.  What an amazing time we had as a family.  Sitting on the hard ground joking laughing.  Sam took tons of pictures, even got a few amazing shots. When we got home DH took Sam down to the computer and made her an account on Star Wars.  Right now the two of them are down there playing together and have been for several hours.  Now I've lost them both to Star Wars.

While my dear family was playing computer games I was making cards.  I needed three flat cards to send in the mail.  I have been admiring the one layer cads that Heather Telford at bits & pieces makes. cardz.wordpress.com  So I had to try my hand at one (actually three in different colors).  They were made special for family.  A cousin that I had met a couple times when I was young, passed away suddenly last week.  So the cards will be in the mail tomorrow.  And my thoughts will be the entire family in their time of grief.

Dream House

What a peaceful day I've had. Last day of school for the kids. I had the day off and did a whole lot of nothing. Hubbie had me crafting on his Star Wars game for him. Not exactly the kind of crafting I like but all I had to do was push a few buttons to send his guys out on missions. While I was waiting for them to come back I played games on my iPod, and did some craft organizing. Working on making a new sample book of all my stamps. Reorganizing the stamp binders, only to find out I need another binder.

Here are pics of Sam's house we built. (hope this works. I've just downloaded blogger onto my iPod)

Teachers Gifts

It's hard to believe that the school year has come to an end.  Tomorrow is the last day of school.  Teachers gifts are made, and cards completed.  I decided to keep the cards simple, as I left them till tonight to make.  And with having four to make.  Grant has a teacher and an EA, Sam has two teachers that shared the grade 7 class this year.  Sam and her girlfiend also made up a special basket of gifts for one teacher, as she is retiring this year.  So there will be no bus ride in the morning.  Thankfully I'm off, and can drive them with all their gifts, and bring home all the projects that cant fit on the bus.

School Trip

Evening everyone. Just a quick post.  Having problems with mobile blogger.  This will be the third time I've written this post.  This time I decided to do it on the computer since I was already on here working on organizing my pics.

Last week was Grant's school trip.  It started with a 7:30 departure on a very hot school bus.  The temp that day was in the 30's.  Two hour bus ride, and the first stop was the Royal Ontario Museum.  Fast tour through as we had to be at Medieval Times just after lunch.

What a great afternoon.  You are seated in an areana.  You eat your dinner (with your hand, no utensils) while watching a display of knights on horseback.  Each section is a different color and that is the color of the knight that you cheer for.  I came away from there with a soar throat from yelling.  It was a awesome time.  Kids really enjoyed it.

When we got home it was a big rush to finish Grants Egypt project.  As I wasn't home the next night to help him.  We ended up finishing it.

The project was to make a diarama from Ancient Egypt.  Grant chose to do King Tuts tomb.  I made the pyramid for him out of cardstock.  Leaving the tip half unattached so it would fold open to reveal the inside.  The model outside he made from clay.

Opening the pyramid and looking in you can see the sarcophagus, his jars, and some treasure.

Sam's house she built is back home.  So when I get pics of it I'll post.

No Time to Card

Well I guess I can say morning to everyone.  It's just after midnight and getting a quick post in before I hit the sheets.  Just wanted to share the happenings in my craft room this weekend.  It has turned into school project central.  Both kids have major projects due this week.  Sam has been working for weeks on hers.  They started out months ago designing their dream home.  Plans were made, lots of resourcing on costs of everything from mortgages to contents of the house.  Then the model was made.  The last couple of weeks she has been madely working with dad to build her house out of foam core.  The inside even has to be decorated.  She's not only using my space but I'm watching my paper supply going down, as it's turned into flooring and wall coverings.  Couches have been made from my clay.  One more night to work on it.

The little guys project was started tonight.  Ancient Egypt.  He's decided to do King Tuts Tomb.  So I constructed a pyramid that will open up to reveal the treasures inside.  Meanwhile I had the little guy constructing King Tut for the outside of the pyramid.

Off to bed, 6:30 comes early.

Another Wedding Card

Evening everyone.  A little time to relax before bed.  I'm really having a hard time keeping my eyes open.  Late nights, early mornings, working, cleaning, kids. But we have to keep going.

A couple nights ago I was playing with the silhouette making window frames for my daughters dream house she is making for a school project.  The scale is in metric, the silhouette in inches.  Thought I did a good job converting, but when hubbie cut out the windows last night,  I ended up cutting them out again.  This time I made him give me the measurements.  She has till Tuesday to finish a model of a three storey house, made from foam core.  Dad doesn't have much patience with his daughter in this project.  I'll post pics when they get it finished.

I have my last wedding card to show you.  And have to get busy on more cards.  I blew the dust off this stamp.  Choosing to color only the flowers with my new markers to match the purple mat.

happy crafting
