Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

I'm a little late but, Merry Christmas to everyone.  We have had a wonderful holiday.  Being couch potatoes for most of the week, playing Donkey Kong on the Wii.  The kids play circles around me, but it's been fun.
I've finally finished a couple of pages from my Dec Album.
Here is the front cover.
And here is Dec 1 & 2.
It's coming slowly.  I remembered to take pic before Christmas, but not too many after.  It's been a very lazy week.

Jolly Snowmen

Sam finished off her tags today.  Here she is glueing and cutting.
And here is her finished product.  She did 36 all together.

Merry Christmas to everyone if I don't get back for a few days.

Teachers Gifts

I have the little guy home sick today.  I don't wether he is really sick, (there is alot of flu going around) or if the hussle and bussle of no structured day at school has thrown him off.  But I have to get my dad to come sit with him.  This is my last day of work before a weeks holidays, and I have to work it or won't get payed for the holiday.  Bummer, because I'm exhausted and would love to stay home.
I did manage to finish up the teachers gifts before I'm off.  Inside the mug is the dry ingredients for a 3Minute Magic Mug Cake.  I found it on Passionately Artistic.

Reindeers invading

Christmas is a sneaking up real fast.  Finished my shopping this morning.  If I don't have it, they don't need it.  I'm done.  Now to work on the food.
My little guy has been busy making a treat for his classmates.  I found this pattern on Scrapbooks Etc.  The little guy has put together 24 candycane reindeer all on his own.  He has done a great job.  Sam is busy with tags for her class.  Will post when they are done.
24 little reindeer.

Happy Birthday to DH

Just home from work, and filling the time till we head out for dinner.  It's dinner out tonight as DH is celebrating his birthday today.
One day to spare on the project 12 deadline.  I didn't think I would get finished on time.  This month was all about me.  Usually I'm the one taking the pics and there aren't many of me.  So November is my birthday month, and the day of my birthday I decided to document it.  It's not pretty,  I lead a rather boring life, but it's all about me.
I had alot of pics to use, so the journaling is hidden under the pics on the right.  You just pull on the 3 birthday cakes that are there, and it slides out.  I love my cuttlebug and die cuts.  Had alot of fun with one, using a birthday die cut I recently picked up.  Love the cool cake in the bottom right.
I started my day with a cup of tea my daughter so kindly made for me.  Housework doesn't stop just because it's your birthday, so laundry had to be done.  I got money to go clothes shopping, so Sam and I went to town to Mark Work Warehouse.  (love that store) I was after pants, but she picked out a nice top for me, and she liked it so well we got her one to match.  While we were in town, the Craft Nook was having a demo day for the Silhouette.  (great machine, gotta have one)  When we got home Randy was hanging the new screen door, which has sat in the porch all summer.  (He waits till the coldest day to hang it) We had Chinese out, which the kids love.  After dinner it was back home for cake, which Sam made for me.  After the kids were in bed it was out to the hot tub. (sorry no pic, forgot to take the camera out)

Oh Christmas Tree

Good evening everyone.  I just wanted to put up a quick post.  I've had a busy day at work.  Everyone is starting to buy their Christmas needs.  With baking, and Christmas parties, it's starting to get a little busier.
I started writing out my Christmas cards this week.  This one I made a couple of in different colors.  It is one that I did at Lilians card class.  Made a bit of a mess making these with all the glitter.  I always seem to get it all over me.

Have a great weekend.  Off to put the tree up with the kids, and tomorrow is baking day.

Blue Christmas

What a beautiful sunny day.  Nice day to be home doing Christmas like stuff.  Dug out my CD's. Apparently I only have one, and one hiding in my sons room somewhere that he has been listening to all year.
I have a couple cards today, not for any challenges.  They just happened.  The first I saw on a blog last week and can not remember where.  The embossed tree was done on silver paper.  I thought it was so stunning, I just had to try it.  It was hard to get a pic of it, as it reflects everything.  But here it is.
The second is another embossed with the village scene.  I used double sided tape around the outside and put gold glitter on it to frame the scene.  The roof tops are done in stickles, and the snow falling is stickle pearls dabbed on.  The snow on the ground is felt, just to give it a little dimention.
Off to do some Christmas shopping. Have a wonderful day.

Project 12 October

I've done it.  I'm caught up, and I know what I'm doing for November too, just need to print my pics.  This is my October LO for Project 12, put on by Srapbook & Cards Today
October was yard work.  So many leaves and even more pine needles.  Sam's grade 6 class spent two days at Yearly.  A great Thanksgiving Dinner.  Michelle Wright Concert, that was excellent.  It was an acoustic night.  Michelle, a guitar player, and a piano player.  What a great show.  And lastly Halloween.  We had Cleopatra and Darth Vadar.
Today is the first of December.  It would have been my gramma's 94th birthday.  Happy Birthday gramma, I was thinking of you today.  Miss you lots.  Anyway I'm starting a December album.  I'm going to document everyday of December.  Not that we do a whole lot of exciting things.

Project 12 September

Just doing a little catch up.  I finally finished glueing my September page together this morning.  September was back to school, and preparing for the Fall Fair.  Broken bones. And a visit from the Archer girls.

After our snowstorm on Friday.  Most of the snow is gone today, because now it's raining.  Makes things a little slippery.  Off to finish house work, and wrap a Christmas present.  It's too big to hide although DH already knows what it is, because he orders his gifts so he gets what he wants.

Holy Thunder Storms

We had a dilly of a storm last night.  I had just gotten home from work when the lightening started.  There was a huge crack close by, something got hit.  And the thunder.  So loud, and it shook the ground.  The whole house rattled.

My card today is for Card Patterns-Sketch 91
The snowflakes are outline stickers.  The stamp was colored with watercolor pencils, with some glitter added to the snow.

Here is my card.
Here is the sketch.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Let Those Banners Fly

Happy Monday to everyone.  I have company with me at home today.  The little guy came down with a cold over the weekend.  He didn't sleep well last night, heard him coughing alot.  This morning he just didn't feel like going to school. So since I don't go in till later when DH is home I let him stay home.  I've had the anoying cough for a couple of weeks, but I finally broken and took Buckley for a few days.  That stuff is baaaad, but boy does it work.
Onto the good stuff.  Every week I check out Little Red Wagon, and all the other challenge sites out there, and every week like so many other challenges, life gets in the way and I don't get them done in time.  But this week I did it.  This is the first time I've tried a banner.  Not bad.
I've covered two challenges with this card.

TGIF

Happy Friday to everyone out there.  I finally have a Saturday off without asking for it.  No plans, being able to sleep in. (can't remember when that last happened)  It's my birthday tomorrow.  A nice relaxing day with my family.  The Craft Nook is having a demo day for the Silhouette that me and Sam must go check out.
This card was created for Creative Accents.  I think this embossing folder has become my fav lately.  It is so versitile.  I use it for everything.  The image is another pyramid card.  I so like to do these.  I think this is the last one I have.  But still have a couple 3D's to make up.
Here is the sketch for the challenge.  This was a great sketch, it was so easy to do.  I'll be using this one again.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Happy Winter

Good evening bloggers.  It's been a long day, I'm ready to crash.  Started out volunteering at the school for most of the morning.  Off to work for the afternoon.  Home to get the kids from school, give them a snack and off to violin with Sam.  Dropped her off and headed back to the school with the little guy for parent teacher interview.  Home to have dinner (soup that DH heated, and sandwiches I made while kids snacked earlier) Time to get kids in bed and I have a spot on the couch with my name on it.
I love this tree.  I learned how to make it from Jen McGuire.  She has a series of how to videos that are awesome.  The tree is made of sticky back canvas, ripped into strips, twisted, and stuck onto a shape with double sided tape.  You then rub distress inks on to color it, add embelishments.  The clouds are from her next set of videos,  Perfect Pearls mixed with water and painted on.
Hope you enjoy.

Happy Monday

Good Monday morning to you all.  Just a quick post before heading out to work.  This card is a replica of one we did at Lillians Card Class.  I didn't have the same stamps and embossing folders.  She used a music stamp, stamped in red,  I embossed the music and rubbed some red distress inks on.  The bottom red piece is embossed as well, just a different folder than what Lillian used.  The stained glass stamp I had to go out and buy because I really liked it.
Hope everyone has an enjoyable day.

Remembrance Day

I did make it home in time to do a quick post before I'm off to basketball and swimming.  Supper is made and just waiting for the little ones.  I hope everyone has taken just a few moments to reflect today on Remembrance Day.

I discovered last night that I can't craft while that nice new stove is blasting heat on me.  Just way to hot to sit right beside it.  One more reason to push for my new craft area.  Anyway, here is the card I managed to finish.
The red is embossed with a flower embossing folder.  A piece of gold ribbon tied around, and Deck the Halls stamped along it.  The image is outline gold sticker colored in with watercolor pencils.  My fav to color with.
It fits two challenges:

Sentimental Sundays

I know I'm a day early, but I'm off to work early tomorrow and won't be able to post.  Tomorrow is Remembrance Day in Canada.  My everyone take a moment tomorrow to think of all the soldiers that have served our country.  I had a great uncle that did not make it home.  Maybe someday I will make it to Holland to visit his grave.  But tomorrow I will be thinking of Uncle Allan.  And Uncle Wes that made it back home, only to drown shortly after returning.

On to the good stuff.  It was so good to sit down in my space again and create.  This card was made for DH nephew who has recently had an accident.
I started out stamping a fern image with versa mark on the blue.  All the edges are distressed with ink.  The front piece is stamped with one of my fav stamps right now, grasses a Hero Arts stamp.  I added a few pearls and a button to the side.  I had to keep the card flat because it has to go through the mail.

This card was created for Sentimental Sundays-Challenge #28-A Sketch.  Loved this sketch.

Socks and a New Stove

Well it's only taken me a year to make two pairs of socks.  I have wrist and thumb pain if I knit for too long a period.  But they are finally done, just in time for winter and to start a new pair.
This is the reason I have gotten no crafting done.  When we tried to start the old stove in the basement this year, it wouldn't start.  My temporary craft area is right beside the stove.  First it was too cold down there to craft, then when we replaced the stove I had to move all my stuff to the other side of the room to make room for the workers.

This is our new stove and it keeps the house toasty.  I got most of my stuff moved back today.  So hopely I can create a card tonight.

Oh Christmas Tree

Happy Sunday everyone.  Hope your having a great weekend.  I'm posting my card quickly before I run out for a concert tonight.  My aunt had nobody to go see Michelle Wright with, so I agreed to go.  Should be good, it's an acoustic show.
On to my card.  I'm stuck on Christmas cards.  This is for Crafty Card Makers-Fancy Folds.
I just recently purchased Card Makers Magazine all on folds.  There are some cool folds in there.  This one caught my eye, and I had the perfect paper to use inside.
When opened up it looks like a Christmas tree.  You can't see in the picture, but I put glossy accents on the wreaths, and the scallopped dots I dotted with red, green, and crystal stickles.  That really defines the tree.

Have a great end to your weekend.

Rain Rain Go Away

Fall is definately here.  Rain, cold, grey skies.  At least the rain held off last week when I was away with my daughters grade 6 class at Yearly.  An outdoor education centre.  What an amazing place.  Two days of learning about the outdoors and survival.
On to card stuff.
My patterned paper and cat are downloaded from Do Crafts. (Daisy & Dandelion)  The spiderweb is embossed with a cuttlebug folder, and cut into three.

There were two cats on the page, so I had to make them both.

Creative Juices are Flowing

It's been awhile since I've posted.  I fell out of my groove, but I'm back.  A couple of day with the family does wonders.  A belated Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends.  Hope everyone had their share of turkey.
Our time this weekend was spent doing yard work.  We always leave it till that first snow fall.  This year we are so ready.  Raking up the many pine needles gives you alot of time to think.  I was able to plan out several cards, and even had a bit of time to sit down and do a bit of crafting.
I managed two cards, this one is for 365 Cards.  It's been awhile since I've done one of their challenges.  It is for Day 224-Super Sketchy Sunday.
Here is the sketch.
This one is for Crafty Card Makers
Challenge #31-Step away from the square.
you were to use no square cards
I cut this out using a scalloped nestability.  It is cut from a card we received last year.  I just glued it to a white card cut the same shape.  I even used the sentiment for the inside of the card.

Have wonderful day.

Creative Accents Challenge

At least the sun is finally shining today.  Yesterday was cool and dull.  We had a nice visit from DH mom and two sisters with their husbands.  Jack brought back our riding lawnmower, that he took several years back to fix.  Thought the little guy was big enough to drive it now.  Look out.
A couple of weeks ago, I stumbled across a blog hop from Creative Accents.  Had a great time checking out all the sights.  Thought I would try their latest challenge.

ABC Challenge
A-alphabet
B-Bling
C-Chipboard
On my card I've used the new apple cidar paper from imaginisce. (just picked up a 6x6 pack the other day, love the line) My alphabet is stamped and embossed in black.  The apples are covered with red glitter and the stems are brown flock for the bling, and the apple itself is cut from chipboard.
Rather a simple card, but hope you enjoy.

Project 12 August

It's better late than never.  I just couldn't get motivated this month to get my LO in on time.  My printer wasn't working properly so I was really reluctant to use it.  Then I ran out of ink.  By the time I started it, I would have had to rush to get it posted in time.  So I decided to just take my time.  And here is the finished product.
Just a reminder that you too can join in the monthly challenge.  You can find it at Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine under Project 12.
Here is the sketch for August.

Autumn is here

After all the extreme heat this summer, we now have rain and cool.  It feels soooo cold.  I'm thinking of turning the heat on soon if this keeps up.
The kids have been back to school for three days and everything is going great.  The only complaint the little guy had, was his BF isn't in his class, but they get to see each other at recess.
For this card I started out by scoring the front in the diamond pattern, and then distressed it with Brown Distress Ink.  The sentiment is black embossed.  The stamp is a new one from Hero Arts, and colored with markers.
This card is for two challenges:
Sentimental Sundays-Recipe Card-one solid paper

Rain rain go away

Wow, it's the last long weekend of the summer.  Tuesday the kids are back to school.  We still have the little guys room ripped apart.  His mattress is on the livingroom floor.  Want to have him back in his room by tomorrow.  Most of the furniture can be put back in and out of the dinningroom.
What a temperature change we have had.  It's gone from overheating and humidity to rain and cold.  I'm going to have get a sweatshirt out today,  it's chilly.  But I'm not complaining because the white stuff will be here before we know it.

I made another card using the pyramid pics form Reddy Creative Cards.  This one actual came in the package with the last one I made.  I used coordination paper in whitewash blue, embossing it with snowflakes, and sanding for the blue to show through.  Hope you enjoy. Everyone have a great long weekend.

Wishing you peace

With the hot and humid days lately it's hard to think about the cold and Christmas.  But when I was in the Craft Nook the other day looking around, I stumbled over some new pyramid cards.  I love putting together these cards.  This one is from Reddy Creative Cards.  So here is my first Christmas card for this year.

This card was completed for Card Patterns-Sketch 79.

Five more sleeps till school.

Thanks a bunch

Hello everyone.  I've been busy trying to finish my sons bedroom.  His furniture is still sitting in the dinningroom.  Last night we had to make a trip to Home Depot for new trim.  I had sanded the old, and some of the paint had sanded off.  When I put the new paint on, it's kind of transparent and would never totally cover without doing many coats.  Just finished the first coat on the new trim.  Looks great.

With being back to work, I can make time in the evenings for crafting again.  And have managed to finish this card.  I really enjoyed trying the new technique put up by Crafty Card Makers-Spotlight Challenge-Spotlight Technique.  I first stamped the flower pattern in a brown distress ink twice.  On one I stamped over with a word stamp in a lighter brown.  I then cut out a square using a punch and colored it with markers, and placing it over the first one with foam squares.  I have seem this technique but never tried it, thanks Crafty Card Makers for giving me that little push.

The sketch I used for this card is from Card Patterns-Sketch 78.

Thanks for stopping by.

Awesome show Deric

Friday night me and the little guy had an awesome time.  It was Grants first concert.  Although the theatre here is small, there is not a bad seat in it.  Grant had a great time rocking to the songs he knew, clapping along.  We stood in line after to get his album signed.  It's a great feeling seeing a relative up there on stage, knowing how hard he's worked to get there.  Way to go Deric.
The pics didn't turn out so good.  Here's one of the whole band.
It's Monday and the end of my holidays.  Back to work this afternoon.  Not looking forward to that.  I didn't get much crafting done while I was off, but Sam did manage to finish her page on the race track.  I think she did a great job on it.

Back to work around here.  Painted Grants room yesterday, have to do the trim.  All the stuff out of his room is spread around the house.  It's rather crowded, hard to make your way through the dinningroom to the kitchen.  But everything should be back in a couple of days.

That's one big tongue

Last week we took the kids to Niagaria Falls for three days.  There is so much to see, and so much walking.  The kids had a ball.  We all had an great but exausting time, and it took us days to recover when we got back home.
We spent a whole day at Marineland.  What a great place.  Sam was a little afraid at first to feed the buffalo.  That is one long tongue they have.

While organizing some new stamps the other day, I managed to whip up a card.  This is the first card I have made with acetate.  I stamped the Hero Arts grass stamp with white onto it and placed a piece of green behind it.  I card lifted this from the Hero Arts blog.

Friday night I'm taking the little guy to his first concert.  Deric Ruttan.  A couple of years ago Sam went with me.  It's exciting for them because it's family they get to see up there on stage.    My cousin is coming to his hometown to do a show.  My two aunts and I usuallly go to see him when he's close by.  It'll be a great show.
